Well if you gave Ali all 4 first rounds that says otherwise...nationality doesn't dicate they were or wouldn't be biased ALL Alis fights were like this. The only reason Frazier won is it was to obvious he did win, unlike Norton who was a perfect example of the Ali grip on boxing. ali had trouble adjusting that is seen in the early to late rounds, before Mildenberger walked into a right hand he was gaining momentum....its on VIDEO! no one is contesting Ali didn't win by a good majority based on knock downs!
Come again? Perhaps the only person at the time that knew Muhammad Ali's jaw was broken during the former champion's match with Ken Norton on March 1, 1973 was Muhammad Ali himself. Watching recordings of the fight, its possible to find the moment during the 11th round, but not even Alis cornerman, Wali Muhammad, could see it at the time it happened. But then came the blood. "I was taking out the mouthpiece and there was more and more blood on it," he told Ali's biographer Thomas Hauser in Muhammad Ali: His Life and Times. "My bucket with the water and ice in it became red. In every other fight, between rounds, Id take the mouthpiece out and put it in the bucket and there was just slobber on it. But here, after each round, I had to shake the mouthpiece to get all the blood out of it into the water. Norton said he broke his jaw later in the fight. Like I said if this was 15 rounds, a TKO for Norton is possible. The surgeon said It was a very bad break. The bone which was broken had three or four jagged edges. The edges kept poking into his cheek and into his mouth. He had so much pain during the fight that he's totally exhausted right now. Rubbish ! Pacheco knew his jaw was broken when Ali came back to the corner after the second round and said, "I think my jaw is broken I heard something pop." Pacheco then examined the jaw by palpating it with his fingertips . Pacheco also heard the sound of crepitation,[ like finely crunched glass,] when he manipulated the jaw. Dundee thought it might have happened in the first round, when Ali returned to the corner with blood coming oput of his round, but Pacheco is positive it was during the second round. Pacheco told Ai he had a cracked tooth. You need to do more research.
Is this all evident from the original film or TV broadcast or just based on stories that Pacheco and Dundee told ?
Well I'm not digging my super 8mm out to confirm it.You can either take Pacheco's word for it as stated in his book, or you can believe Mendoza's supposition that is supported by nothing more than his opinion. Your choice.
That you are stupid to an amazing degree is well established on this board, but now it appears you are equally blind. I'll give you a couple of clues. Punches have to land when you throw them for you to score points. You have to make the other guys punches miss. Mildenberger came a very poor second on both counts.
I'm not about to take Pacheco's word for it simply to disagree with Mendoza. Whatever one thinks of Mendoza, I find Pacheco generally biased often to an extreme. I've heard Ken Norton dispute the idea that Ali fought almost the whole fight with a broken jaw. Norton is biased of course but it's a reasonable assertion. I've seen Muhammad Ali himself say "No, of course I didn't know it was broken, I'd be crazy to fight with a broken jaw." or words to that effect. Which doesn't quite square with Pacheco's claim that Ali was saying "I think my jaw's broken". If the film shows it, I'll accept it. Otherwise it's just a story from a biased source, contradicted or disputed by other sources even closer to the event.
Pacheco comes across like a horses @ss, and is very biased. He also claims to injected Ali with various substances. Which punch did it early? As I mentioned some think it happened in the 11th round. Norton also said it happened late.
Most of alis punches MISSED it was mildenberger landing the solid shots mostly until he sustained a cut over one.atsch
Futch had class. Biased towards his guy, yeah, but he knew boxing. Pacheco was more biased and didn't know 1/5th of what Futch did about the game. When asked if he thought Bowe would beat Golota in the re-match, Futch opted out. So he could be fair.
It's your choice and if you are sufficiently concerned I suppose you will watch the fight. Either way I CGAS!
Pacheco used to inject Ali's hands with novocaine. Are you the only one that does not know this? Why would Norton know when Ali's jaw was broken? You are so obtuse.:-(
