How would one of Germany's best have done against two of Britain's best heavies?

I think AJ and Lewis were a level above Bugner and Bruno, Bugner was too small to beat AJ who would have knocked out Karl for that same reason, Bruno would have struggled more as he was less skilled than AJ but his 84 inch reach may have been too much for Karl, I feel he would have out-jabbed Mildenberger for the first half of this fight but if he doesn`t get Karl out of there by the mid rounds he might gas, Bugner v Karl is 50/50.

I'd say Bugner could out point Karl.
Bruno has an excellent chance to ko him but if he doesn't get him out early, then he maybe tires.

I have to respectfully disagree. Joe Bugner was huge. Joe was not a built up bodybuilder either. I can understand picking against Bugner for a lot of reasons…but size could never be one of them. When he lost it was NEVER because Bugner was too small.

Bruno was slow, but his command of boxing, distance and punch placing represents more skill than you realise. I guess you could say AJ was somewhat more “athletic” but that’s a separate issue to skill and ringcraft entirely. If you look at what the two fighters do in the ring so far as technique is concerned there is an argument Frank understood fundamentals better and was technically more advanced. We are not talking Willy Pep here of course. But in terms of jabbing himself openings and placing the right punch that comes from that Frank is better.

I see Frank and Joe being very near to AJ,level wise. Very little separates them. I agree that Joe and Karl would be a 50/50 one.

I'd say AJ has better technique throws better combinations, aswell as being a better inside fighter than both fighters. But Bruno has a better jab and Bugner has superior toughness.

I think Mildenberger looses both of those

Bugner from the 60`s would have been too slim to fight AJ:

I'd pick both Bugner and Bruno to beat Mildenberger.I haven't looked how many southpaws they faced, thats the only factor that could possibly complicate my opinion. I think Bruno would stop Mildenberger, and Bugner take a clear decision.
