Haye is trying so hard to be like Ali, even going so far as using his mouth to get a shot at the title, like with Liston. I wonder if Haye comes up with these ideas to have graphic depictions of severed heads, or if he has someone who gives him the ideas. Either way, his lack of respect will obviously bite him in the ass come July 2nd.

his supporters think him winning would be good for boxing. i disagree. If he was respectful and a sportsmen, maybe him winning could cause some excitement in the division and the sport. But he is nothing more than on a level playing field with a radio shock jock, and him winning would be terrible for the sport, sport being the operative word here. Do boxing fans really want a degenerate sociopath representing their sport? Not to worry, this will be Spinks Tyson all over again, except spinks made it through a minute and didnt suffer any permanent brain damage. Wlad will do in the ring what Haye does on t-shirts and on the internet. After they fight, David Haye will be a vegetable and I predict he will never fight again.

I agree when you say some of the things Haye does/says is below the belt, but being honest, I think even you realise the advantages he would bring as heavyweight champion.

He is fast, flash and no stranger to controversy. He speaks English, speaks it well and can be charming when he tries.

Compare that to the myriad of almost personality defunct, straightforward Eastern Europeans, no contest what would be better for boxing as a sport.

But i think of boxing as a sport, not as a glorified dog fight. laughing about graphic depictions of decapitations is not sport. its worse than threatening child eating. i love the sport and want it to be a part of my childrens lives, but when i cant allow them to enjoy pre fight build up and hype, it takes a lot away, and returns very little. ali never said he was going to end anyone's life in the ring. i guess haye just isnt intelligent enough to promote the fight without resorting such blatantly distasteful and borderline illegal tactics. Pizza Face, while obviously not the most intimidating of all threats, is still family friendly and not on par with The Hills Have Eyes inbred type psychopaths.

i feel the sport is losing fans to mma, which is marketed to a younger audience, hence, the future fans and dollars. haye is a disgrace, and obviously isnt confident enough in his abilities to fight wlad without such disgusting and alienating tactics. ali smiled at liston to intimidate him.

dont get me wrong though. i am a fan of wlad, no question. but im a bigger fan of the sport. I think it would be great if there was someone that could give him a challenge, a douglas type guy, even beating him in a boxing match, setting up rematches and discussion, thus including boxing in media outlets. but haye? i could see him going so far as to say after he beats both brothers, hes gonna kill their father and anally **** their mother

    its called marketing

this is a fight general fans only care about because of hayes mouth

otherwise it would be another klitchko fight

this is competition , if you cant handle trash talking dont watch boxing.

i realize the advantages of having a charismatic champion, but not a sadist / bully. english is nice, but wlad speaks english, and other languages as well. I understand what he says probably better than i do haye, even though my mother is english with a thick accent. but it's the english speaking countries of the world championship, it's suppoed to the World Championship, and wlad actually is more accessible to a larger population than haye would be.

ive wanted every challenger to give either klit a run for the money, to see just how good they are. but this idiot haye, i want him to lose. badly.

sure, trash talking is one thing. but would you actually sit there and let your 8 year old son or daughter wear a haye shirt with him decapitatin another human being? theyd be sent home from school. but i bet they can proudly wear a tap out shirt, and talk about rampage jackson or whatever with their teacher. these is the future fans, and if this idiot starts a trend, there will be no future ticket buyers, ppv watching fans in the future.

it's not marketing btw. its borderline illegal, distasteful, and sheds an un-needed negative light on the sport. boxing doesnt need the general public viewing boxing as a sadistic, graphic, murderous sport played by sociopaths. this is one time when bad publicity is not a good thing.

honestly, and i dont know what 'smh' means lol, i wouldnt want haye to never fight again. i think hes a talented boxer and has a lot to offer. however, based on his talent and high exposure level, if he cant be even a 'neutral' ambassador of the sport, and role model to the kids (which wlad is, being educated, and a gentleman), he needs to go away. Make boxing positive and save it from losing to mma. we need more rounded fighters at the top, both in and out of the ring. obviously, haye cant do what he says and draws pictures of, but my point is that, young fans wont have the opportunity to watch the fight or spend the dollars on anything pre-fight with such tarantinoesque marketing. would you let your kid watch hostel?

    Come on, man...

    This is a brutal sport!

Your kids have the Disney Channel, Hannah Montana and ****** Beiber!

I don't think a child below a certain age would even understand boxing, let alone enjoy it...

I don't agree with your point, I am afraid. I am not a fan of Haye but if it wasn't for his antics this fight wouldn't be where its at and Wlad wouldn't be featuring on HBO again.

Hate him or love him, he brings the entertainment people craved in the heavyweight division, he is getting people pumped up and emotions are running high with the anticipation for this fight. All because Haye has chosen these tactics, he has got under Wlads skin and even more so, he has got under Wlad's fans skins too!

I hope one day your kids can enjoy the King of All Sports, but you and they need to understand that trash talking has always been apart of boxing, it sells tickets and gets people by the balls, on either side.

And on another point, if you look at Haye before he even started obsessing with Wlad, he never spoke this much ****, he just wants to make this a very well known fight and get everybody involved, whether people want to see him knocked out or not, he is getting the money for the PPV and what not, so he is going to get as much interest as he can which will equal more money and considering he wants to retire soon, I can understand his thinking.

is this the same 8 year old who plays call of duty and gta?

and lets put this into some sort of perspective why would you buy your 8 year old that t-shirt or does he already generate his own income?

I get your point man , but i dont agree with you that people are going to stop watching boxing because its bad for todays youth

I think most parents are bad for todays youth

David haye isnt marketing or thinking about all the kids who will watch this fight, neither are most of the people watching this fight

ya know what? i agree with you. thats why i compared hayes trash talking to ali getting his first title fight. but haye has obviously gone too far with decapitated heads and showing him taking a life, actually killing someone. do you feel this is the publicity boxing needs? i can already see groups, idiotic groups, yet groups with large voices and many ears nonetheless, calling for boxing bans, and crying if boxing is in the news. do you think cbs news will show a picture of haye holding severed heads on their broadcast? but they would show a pizza face. haye is not above the sport and thus, for the sake of boxing, he needs to use his own head with his marketing. unless he feels he is above boxing, in which case, why would you want someone that doesnt respect the sport of kings representing it?

To be honest, I like Wlad more than most other Heavies out there. If he continues on for a little while longer I could bear it. I understand he draws big crowds and huge interest in Eastern Europe.

    However,

Eastern Europe has dominated the Heavyweight division for years with many boring fights, leading to a decline in interest to the point where Heavyweight boxing is pretty much reviled in the US with no TV coverage. In the UK it is better because of Haye, and I think if Haye were to dominate the division for a year or two (I'm not saying this will happen by any means) it would kick-start boxing a bit. It would be a fresh new chapter for the division and the sport.

You don't have to worry about Haye representing anything, I believe he is retiring in a few months. And I added a bit more onto my other post which explains why I believe Haye is being so...erm... distasteful? Yeah, lets go with that! I think he is just trying to rake in the viewers and the money ready for his retirement. I don't think his antics are right at all and only go to prove that Haye is digging himself a big hole that he and his team hope he can escape on July 2nd.

lol, i feel the internet is bad for todays youth. im just saying boxing doesnt need such negativity, with there being so many pulls at the sports fans dollars. haye could get away with saying hes gonna knock wlads block off, but the graphic depiction of it does nothing but give fuel to the groups that would rather see boxing banned. "See, boxers are nothing but murderous psychopaths. I will never let my son box!"

btw, i had a Muhammed Ali "I'm the Greatest" T-Shirt in grade 1 or 2. imagine if i walked into school with two severed heads on my shirt? the teacher would send me for help thinking im a serial killer waiting to happen

To be honest Wlad has joined in with the trash talking to a degree and been very good at it too. Of course he hasn't stooped to Hayes levels but it's the best i have seen of Wlad outside the ring, he's a really funny guy, Haye brought his charisma out instead of winding him up as he would usually hope to do.

Anyway it's boxing, it's always been the way, love him or hate him, you can't ignore Haye.
