Now that Murat is off the table too, can we ask Nathan Cleverly to get lost so Fonfara and Biev can have a go at it? It'd be a pretty good fight.
I heard the co-host of a boxing podcast say that Mikhalkin beat Beterbiev 3 times in the amateurs yesterday. I couldn't find any info confirming it though. Here's a excerpt from an article from the website of the guy who said it. Translated from German 'In the amateurs Mikhalkin could defeat the way three times living in Canada Beterbiev' And another 'As a small, but not quite unimportant side note it should be noted that Mikhalkin and Beterbiev also already faced in the ring as amateurs, in which the EC boxers won all 3 Duels for themselves!'
Beterbiev beat him at Russian Nationals in 2006 by RSCO 2. He also "beat" him at Nationals in 2007 by WO. He was probably too scared to even show up to the fight lol. That's all I found. They did meet though, so maybe he did beat him. Who knows.
Cheers. I saw the WO 'win' but I must've missed the RSCO 2 in the Russian nationals one when I was looking it up. I couldn't find anything at all about him beating Beterbiev though.
Yeah a lot of the time refs wave them off quickly in the ams. Beterbiev beat Mikhalkin on the outclassed rule though. Either way I wouldn't read too into it without seeing it. Korobov beat Sillakh on the outclassed rule. The later had been hurt shortly before Korobov reached the 20 pt outclassed gap but in this rare instance it actually saved him from a proper stoppage loss, IMO. [YT]R2YsR_UsxJ0[/YT]
Did Murat take the fight? Last time I checked he didn't and his teammate, Igor Mikhalkin's name is being thrown around as a possible opponent.
Barrera wanted the fight in USA and Gonzalez said the money was much lower what they offer to Barrera.
