He said he was speaking to orgs. I thought SF would have signed him by now. Bring him back, give him a semi decent fight and the Karo vs Diaz II makes sense.
I just think he's too young and knowledgeable to NOT be fighting somewhere. Thanks for the info.:good Part of the problem is that he's pulled out of his last 3 fights and that doesn't sit well with some people.
I thought Hector Lombard was the best judoka in MMA. Or one of the Japanese black belts just by virtue of being Japanese. Like Akiyama.
Im a big Karo fan for obvious reasons, but I honestly don't think he will ever get himself to a level where he can be a threat to any current champion, for one, he is past his prime, he never recoverd from the torn hamstring he obtain, secondly, the sport of MMA seems to have surpassed Karos skill level. There are too many fighters today who are simply better than him. I love to watch him because he adds a different aspect to the sport, no one has still filled the Judo void, but it is what it is.
Greatest Judoka in the history of MMA?!?!?! WTF!??!?!? Karo's been in some good fights but greatest Judoka? Not even close.
That is why I think SF should sign him for a really low amount. Improve their roster and keep their 170 champ happy.
Remember that I'm not saying Karo is the greatest fighter of all time or something. I'm specifically referring to his Judo acumen. Karo's JUDO pedigree is head and shoulders above Fedor's.
People will say Fedor, but the thing about Sambo is how much Judo can be integral to it, among other disciplines. I tend to also feel that Karo was the face of Judo in MMA in so far as how much he utilized Judo in his fighting. Watching him fight, and implement Judo is to watching someone like Jacare implement BJJ. Both have hybridized styles, but both still display their strong backgrounds, and undeniably in their fighting styles and techniques used. Karo, gets credit because he uses the touted judo throws and sweeps. Nobody is going to deny the judo skills of somebody like Fedor, he has a judo pedigree also, but his style screams, kicks, slaughters Sambo. When I see Fedor, when the world see's Fedor, the world thinks Sambo.
