Karo Parisyan: Is he finished?

Yoshida is an Olympic Gold Medallist in Judo. He never appeared on TUF but you can still watch him. And Fedor is probably the best fighter ever and is in that sense the best Judoka.

 

Yoshihiro Akiyama is a bit more accomplished in judo!

 

I hope not this man belongs in Strikeforce rematching Nick Diaz.

 

Nastula (Olympic gold medalist), Ogawa (Olympic silver medalist and multi time world champion) among others.

 

Thats a bit of a reach. Nastula was one of the most succesful Judoka's of all times. But in MMA he was very average although he was flung in at the deep end to be fair. Although being a late comer to the sport he tested positive for hormones and only fought a handful of times.

 

He's a judoka with as many mma fights as Brock Lesnar, to be fair.

 

And yeah, off the top of my head I can only think of Yuji Nagata that got matched tougher than him (tough to beat 0-2, opponents Cro Cop and Fedor)

 

Remember Yosuke Nishijima? He was a boxer in the old 190lb division and won a few non descript titles. Nonetheless he was a decent box puncher. He faced Mark Hunt in his debut, Yoshida, Santos, Baroni and Manhoef. I dont think iv seen a more difficult debut than that considering Nishijima was only a boxer and nothing else.

 

I thought he did alright against Hunt, especially considering his choice of gloves.

 

True but a debut against a 270lb behemoth like hunt when the dude was a career cruiser? He had balls of iron thats for sure.

 

Are Karo's judo credentials greater than Fedor's?

Russia, as far as I'm aware, is one of the top judo nations in the world. Again as far as I'm aware, Fedor was on the national team and finished third at the Russian national championships in 2000.
