Sergey is looking forward to a year in which–if we can get the fights done–he will face Pascal, Adonis Stevenson and another sure shot Hall of Famer in Andre Ward in succession,” Duva continued.

“GGG has beaten one reigning world champion in his career in (David) Lemieux–a guy who did not have a single successful title defense and had previously been stopped by Marco Antonio Rubio and lost a decision to Joachim Alcine. The only other former world champion on Golovkin’s record is Daniel Geale.

“So, while they are both great fighters and fun to watch, Sergey’s record speaks for itself. There is really no comparison, nor is there any reason to make one. I think they are both terrific and I am a big fan of Golovkin".

“I cannot predict how we will view their careers 10 years from now when we all look back. And Sergey and Golovkin are both blue chppers in my book. But Sergey has consistently dared to be great and he is already well on his way to becoming a legend in his own right. In my opinion, Golovkin has a way to go before he gets to the same place".

It's about time somebody in the limelight spoke the obvious. Like I said before, at the end of the day, when it's all said and done, as I've always mentioned Kovalev should be the priority at HBO as far as supers****om. He has done more.

She is correct. Kovalev doesn't even have as many fights as Golovkin, and his resume is still better.

Wonder if it's Duva, or Kovalev's manager who is giving him such meager portions of his fight purses though?

Duva will only spend the money she has, and that's why she always loses purse bids but the fighters are suppose to get PAID out of that purse, and in MainEvents case they don't get ****.

So how much is she taking off the top?
GGG ain't beat nobody but he's living good off those low grade contenders.

She's 100% correct. I did a thread about this late summer 2014 and that was before the wins over Hopkins and Pascal. Now that's true beyond a shadow of a doubt.

He's got the better resume, however, she's exaggerating a bit as well about how good it is.

GGG is living well off bums, his new nickname should be Bumdog millionaire.

Thanks to Hopkins & Pascal having the cojones to get in the ring with Kovalev maybe his resume reads slightly better than Golovkin's. Pity El Pollo & Pretty in Pink don't have the same cojones . No 160 pounder shows any interest in meeting GGG coz they fear they'll get their asses kicked

Golovkin is the better fighter but i agree Kovalev has a better resume at the moment

but Kovalev's resume isn't that great either his best win's are old Hopkins and Pascal (the guy who lost vs old Hopkins)

Kovalev would kick his **** if they fought. Old Hopkins trumps anything on Golovkin's resume. Not sure why Pascal gets thrown out there like he was something great at the time Kovalev beat him. That version of Pascal is nothing but a contender. Along the lines of the Martin Murray scalp that Golovkin has.

He did beat Bute though just prior, far more convincingly than DeGale as well IMO. Though you can argue how confident he was going into both of those bouts.

Are you kidding? Golovkin will win the fight with Kovalev, GGG is overall way better fighter than Kovalev the only difference is size which still won't be a problem. If you had been watching GGG amateur career you probably will understand that GGG will use totally different tactics against Kovalev as GGG has a lot to offer in terms of style and abilities.

Kovalev is lucky, first of all Hopkins collected titles and went in to fight with Kovalev, would it be someone like Mayweather, Ward, Cotto, Kovalev would be still sitting in situation like he was previously waiting for his shot, like it's happening with Stevenson. And secondly Hopkins is old, you can say what every you want but you can't credit very high win against 49 (!!!) year old Hopkins.

From that perspective Ward vs Kovalev looks interesting as well as GGG vs Ward. But it is highly questionable if Ward wants any of those two fights.

Kovalev has a slightly better resume, but what does it have to do with who is better ??? Resumes don't fight in the ring.

Golovkin's skill set is better than Kovalev's.

Golovkin had a shot to shut the haters up and go up to 168 to beat Ward. He chose money instead, just like nearly every other fighter in existence.

Saying he is overrated is not hate, it's truth.
