It has a lot to do with it. The higher the level of competition, the higher the level of difficulty you'll have beating your opponent. When your opposition is good to average its easy to look good, to know the true level you have to be pushed.

Kovalev's skill set is right there with GGG's, Kovalev is actually more of a natural in the ring, his skills are so subtle most fans have a hard time picking up on them, same goes for most of his opponents, until they're in the ring with him and they realize how hard his is to beat, but by then its too late.

I don't think that was the same Bute mentally. That was also over a year prior to facing Kovalev.

True Hopkins is 85 years old. But Hopkins was a top three 175 pounder when he fought Kovalev. Not saying it's prime Hopkins, or even the Hopkins that beat Tarver, but Hopkins was a legit win. There may not have been another 175 pounder that would have beaten him that night. Just a bad style match up for Hops, against a younger, stronger opponent, with whom he couldn't control the distance against.

So what. You don't conveniently become shot at 32 after a year of inactivity just because you fight against Sergey Kovalev, Jean's always taken a lot of time off in between fights this is nothing new for him..

Pascal is a solid win. I don't think he was shot. I do think he lost a little in those two fights with Hopkins. Honestly, I've just never been very impressed with Pascal.

I'd say they are more or less on par. There can be an argument for either way so obviously Duva will say Kovalev is better.

Fair enough. But he'd still be a handful for most smaller LHW's but the younger beasts that are taking over the division are a little too much for most of the older stalwarts of the division at this point.

She's right, but I think most unbiased observers have realized this for quite some time. Kovalev's resume is significantly better, and I also believe he is in possession of a superior skill set and much greater power, both in an absolute and a prime-for-prime sense.

The only reason Golovkin is more "popular" is because Kathy hasn't done a well enough job promoting him, IMHO.

But there is no doubt in my mind that Kovalev is a far greater talent than Golovkin.

Kovalev beat Hopkins (old man or not) and beat pascal. so on paper he has two very good wins.

Her words are true but they mean more than she thinks. Ironically, what Kathy's really saying here is K2 has done their jobs much better than she has.

She's got an undefeated champion KO artist with a superior resume who is significantly less popular and makes less money (for all parties involved) than Golovkin.

I happen to agree in all regards. Kovalev's got the better resume, and Duva's been outperformed. Her handling of the Stevenson situation blew up when his team called her bluff and agreed to the purse bid she herself requested (which she then bailed on).

I disagree. Light Heavy was/is a deeper division. The Hopkins win is on a tier that Golovkin just doesn't have on his resume. Cleverly, and Pascal were also top notch wins. As a matter of fact. You could put the Murray win, on the tier with Cleverly and Pascal. But that is about it.

    everybody agrees except maybe golov****s.

hopkins and pascal are better than the triple duck best wins like geale ,monroe ,rubio or lebum
