I disagree. Bhop is too old to be considered a career defining win. It's still a good win but not the kind of win that'd make the difference you suggested. Other wins are second tier wins, which GGG has plenty of in his resume. I've said this before the Lemieux fight that if GGG beats him, he'd be on par with Kovalev career-wise and I still think the same. Kovalev is yet to face the big boys i.e. Adonis, Ward, Beterbiev, Barrera and GGG is yet to face Jacobs, Canelo and up and coming top prospects i.e Derevyanchenko, Khytrov, Magomedov etc.

Kovalev's punch variety is not as good, for example he barely ever uses uppercut. Kovalev loses balance quite often, while it never happens with Golovkin.

Sergey's best wins are 50-year old Hopkins and Pascal who is also not quite in his prime. I would say that Hopkins now is an easier opponent than Pascal, and Pascal is not so much better than Murray or Lemieux. I have no doubts that Golovkin would have ZERO trouble beating those two if he was a LHW and would be able to beat them even at his real size.

Light Heavy is deeper than middle. It's arguable that Hops, although old, could have beaten Stevenson. To blank Hopkins like that... It's a win that is better than anything on Golovkin's resume. To claim, Lemieux is on the same tier as Pascal or Cleverly is laughable. You stating that a win over Lemieux puts Golovkin on the same level resume wise as Kovalev is also laughable. Middleweight is too weak a division. Besides, Golovkin meeting a 50 year old Hopkins at a catch weight likely wouldn't end well for Golovkin.

Golovkin would have a serious issue with Hopkins.

I certainly disagree but I'll leave it at that. Let's say time will tell.

Yes, time will tell. Beterbiev fight would resolve all doubts, but it doesn't seem to be even discussed anymore.

Your skills can only be proven vs top opposition looking good vs journeymen doesn't show anything, Kovalev is a tested high quality operator you can say ducking or whatever the reason Kovalev has a better resume is because he did what it took to get the fights.
Golovkin is content fighting bums while overvaluing himself, The Krusher is a true top P4P fighter GGG is undeserving of a slot and is the due to better hype credit to K2 for that.

As he is recovering and rehabbing from surgery, and only has 9 pro fights. That fight will probably happen down the line unless Duva blocks it like she did the Stevenson fight, by backing out of the purse bid she asked for.

Hopkins had a bit more power at his weight class when he was younger, than he does now days. He wasn't by any means considered the monster puncher that Golovkin is, but if you gave a young Hopkins, Golovkin's opposition. Hopkins would have more KO's. That is how weak Golovkin's opposition has been.

Are other boxers and promoters who value Golovkin VERY high victims of K2 hype efforts ? For example, Martinez recently said that Golovkin is "one of a kind". Sergio is retired, never lost to Golovkin and has no reasons to hype him.

Kovalev is a great fighter, but he is not one of a kind.

I think she's saying that if Kovalev had toes like David Haye, she'd stop playing "this little piggy" with Sergey and cheer Golovkin, instead.

Yeah it is, his punches are also a lot more fluid that GGG's, he doesn't use the uppercut because he doesn't need to, if you can KO someone with a friggin jab, why risk getting in close quarters to throw an uppercut.

Kovalev loses balance because he's more nimble or fleet footed than GGG, and can also fight going backward far better than GGG. If GGG had the ease of movement of a Kovalev or Martinez he'd probably lose balance more often too. Not saying GGG has bad footwork Golovkin has brilliant footwork when cutting off the ring but Sergey does too.

If you really think than Lemieux and Murray are comparable to Hopkins and Pascal even slightly past prime, then I feel sorry for you.:-(

And no GGG wouldn't walk through either of them like Kovalev did.
