It wasn't intended as a knock on GGG, I just find it incredible someone thinks Hopkins would pose him no problem at all. That's just crazy talk.

Yeah, Gennady hasn't earned that kind of casual dismissal of a legit all-timer ...and notorious spoiler of conventional, by-the-book technical boxers, which describes Golovkin to a tee. (people often get the wrong idea reflecting on B-Hop as having just been stylistic poison for plodders and bangers. That isn't the case. He was even worse for boxer-punchers...as long as they weren't also southpaws and/or very athletic, fast & young and rangy like Dawson or Taylor or Jones. Look at the way he dismantled Tarver, and broke the hearts of guys like DLH, Jackson, Wright, Trinidad even Shumenov - running the gamut of styles there, but all of whom did have solid fundamentals and some degree of versatility, and weren't just easily-exploited basic straightahead punchers in the Pavlik or Cloud mold)

She has a point here. She's also a disgraceful leech who Kovalev would do well to give the elbow. She can't hack it as a promoter at the top level and is blatantly ripping him off.

That type of talk comes from GGG fanboys, or fans who have no knowledge of the 90s middleweight scene, or Hopkins period.

    They are two divisions apart...

Golovkin isn't a huge middleweight, pretty much bang on average, and Kovalev is by no means small for light heavyweight. We're not going to ask Kovalev to drop to 168lbs, and catchweights are bull****, so we're automatically talking about Golovkin jumping up to 175lbs. I personally feel he can probably be effective moving up a division or two, but Kovalev, again, is a BIG, strong, freakishly powerful light heavyweight and might end up at cruiser before all is said and done (hey, Bellew did, and while he is a few inches taller his frame isn't exactly larger than Kov's) so this wouldn't exactly be the fairest determination of who the better man is. They're just about far enough apart in size that getting that kind of closure from a direct h2h result isn't possible. Now, if both fought Ward as sort of an intermediary (being that he's in-between them in terms of size), on the other hand, and their respective performances were evaluated against each other... :think

Yeah, she always talks **** about Haymon, but Kovalev would have much more cash in his pocket if he was with Haymon. I hear, Kov is really getting ripped off.

Yes I agree.....Kovalev is 15 lbs at least bigger than GGG who I don't perceive as having to drain to get to 160. The Krusher would have a huge advantage over GGG in size.

This isn't the matchup I'm looking for......and we shouldn't be crying about. It's Canelo-GGG that is the big fight, with Krusher-Ward next in line.

Imagine the winner of those bouts fighting! THAT would be a superfight....surely the winner would be undisputed P4P champ.

Kovalev is taking on everyone and is willing to become a great fighter. No one half sane can criticize Kovalev and his resume. Even though they're stalling on the Stevenson fight, it's still a fight they will definitely take sooner or later. Golovkin on the other hand is settled on calling out Welterweights and fighting bums. Better yet, those bum fights have been promoted to PPV status now.

In fairness, Kovalev is getting the big fights. GGG's people aren't getting him the same. He's calling them all out but nothing is materialising.
