Kathy Duva is too naive to be a promotor. Twice now she has allowed Roc Nation to buy off the referee and two of the three judges.
It's tough, because Kovalev apparently wanted the second fight badly (as he seems to want a third fight). Sometimes you have to give your fighter what he wants, even if you might be concerned about the judging/reffing.
Look, it's one thing to be upset at the result. But to call Ward a cheater is ridiculous. Both men at various times in this fight were fouling, and Weeks had to call timeout at one point to tell both men to keep it clean. Kovalev was rabbit punching and Ward had some borderline low blows. Kathy it's fine for you to be upset and to feel a certain way, but don't flat out call Ward a cheater. He didn't "cheat" persay, it was a tug-of-war borderline fouling situation with both guys at various times warned by the ref for fouling. The majority of the telling blows in this fight were a result of legit punching.
She's right! And Sergey will be back strong. He's a great fighter that doesn't have to resort to sleazy ass **** like that scum bucket Ward.
Fair comments. Still, if you were Kathy Duva and they interviewed you right after the fight, what would you say? lol
The good thing for Sergey in this fight, IMO, is that he did not look like he was fading as the fight went on. I think they have the overtraining issue under control. That's big. He should be fine. And the encounters with Ward should only help him improve how he manages body shot defense.
Raise hell Kathy! Don't let up. Look into the VADA 'testing' for Ward in this fight to. This content is protected She literally has to talk to those 'people' like children! Lmao
She is hopelessly naive. Prior to the first fight they should have insisted on neutral ground, neutral judges and a neutral referee. They didn't and it resulted in Ward becoming the man in possession, which means all the bargaining power Kovalev had as champion before the first fight goes out of the window. Ward's team can just flat out refuse any attempt to have the fight without the dice loaded in their favour. Don't like it, then whistle, the record books show that Ward won the first fight and is the champion. Hopelessly naive. Makes you appreciate the strength of organisations like K2, who told him straight that if he wanted Golovkin, fair terms or no fight.
