So if people don't agree with you, you resort to calling them names!! and I'm f*cking childish?? Legitimate female world champion, with low level journeyman boxing ability, says it all about womens boxing really doesn't it. Knew it was only a matter of time before Lomachenko got brought up. Not even comparable. Katie Taylor is not CLOSE to Lomachenkos level, when Loma fights you are really watching something special. Katie Taylor is a good boxer and great FOR A GIRL but she isn't showing us anything spectacular, and at least when Lomachenko fights there is the possibility that his opponent will land something big and put him down. This rarely happens in womens boxing. Same when Floyd fought, he was special, but there was always that possiblity that he might get caught. The gulf in class between Floyd/Loma and their competition is/was not nearly as great as is the case with Taylor and her competition. Look at the scorecards for every points victory Katie Taylor has had as a pro. Landslide victory every f*cking time! Not the case with Loma. Loma lost his first pro fight, and was put down against Linares and the Linares cards were close at the time of the stoppage. Go on the RBR thread and see what people were saying during the Katie fight, the vast majority if not facking everyone on that thread were commenting on how much of a mismatch it was, EVERY round to Katie, yawn, boring, etc etc etc So it's not just my opinion but seemingly the opinion of the majority of fans on this forum, watching that fight, while it was on!
I never compared the ability of Lomachenko and Taylor. I compared their one sided fights. Not much difference there. "For a girl" is fine. There's a gulf in all male and female's ability in sports. Football, tennis etc. That doesn't mean they can't entertain. You have your opinion, I have mine. Both of us will have plenty in agreement. I've no issue with your opinion. I have an issue with those dismissing womens boxing for the bizarre reason women shouldn't punch each other in the face or be allowed box. You may or may not hold that opinion. My issue with you is you telling me "I can't be serious" when I say I enjoyed the fight. I did enjoy the fight. I watched it twice and not for the good of my health.
When you blokes go work on a Monday and people are talking about the weekends football do you berate for not watching the women's games? I can see it now: "Alright lads, cracking game on Sunday wasn't it" "OMG you sexist pig, why weren't you watching Arsenal Ladies vs Yeovil Town ladies? These girls are just as good and just as entertaining as the men. You're just a misogynist who must hate women and be intimidated by the fact they can do what men do". Because that's exactly how you come across in this thread.
I like watching good boxers regardless if they are male or female but i have not got an issue with people who dislike woman boxing, as they are perfectly entitled to hold that view in my opinion.
Katie Taylor serves as nothing more than a political weapon to appease the ''women can do it too'' crowd and be Eddie Hearn's poundland answer to Ronda Rousa. None of her mismatches serve any other purpose, other than the whole novelty aspect. I wonder if anyone has ever placed a bet for her to lose it's so comical Just a matter of time, after her career dries up, that she'll join the MeToo wave and claim she was harassed and objectified when in the '' evil man's dominated sport''
Exactly. Quite amusing to see some on here outraged that someone doesn't hold the same opinion as them, while at the same time claiming to be paragons of "progressive" virtue.
A lot of imagination in this post & based on a hatred of women’s boxing - fair enough, you don’t like it - but chill yourself with the conspiracy theories!
I bet you would - & probably not the first time you’ve paid for something extra ... but whatever floats your boat Seph
I don't hate women's boxing. I'm completely indifferent towards it. It's merely my opinion that it is pointless shoving it down our faces considering how farcical it is. I'm sure the SJW's will be fully behind tranny boxing when that starts getting pushed over here And I'd wager 20 years down the line, when these women retire, they will have a book to selll, something like ''surviving the ring'' where they recount how terrible and intimidating it was to be in boxing around men, We'll hear tales of how they felt intimated and coerced into signing contracts with promoters, ,how hearing wolf whistles at shows traumatized them, sexual harassment they received when male boxers would take an interest and asked them for a number. Then all the reactionaries will be asking why didn't someone do something
Is there a correlation that you've got a cartoon as your picture and that you are speaking negatively towards women? I doubt that will be the case with the "books to sell." Katie Taylor is making good money, and so is Clarrisa Shields in the states. I agree that a lot of her fights have been one sided, but that for me is down to her talent rather than anything else. Look at Natasha Jonas - talented Olympian prospect who got stopped against a tough Brazilian last year. Even Shields has been dropped in one of her fights. Women's boxing is an emerging sport at the moment and should be encouraged - at the end of the day as boxing fans we should want to see as much as possible, whether that be Amateur, Olympics, WSB or Pro it shouldn't matter. 15 years ago UFC was seen as a freak show, now its massive with fighters coming through as household names.
Taylor herself is alright to watch but the fights are generally a bit uninteresting. I thought Volante was really poor. Throwing the same combination, slow feet and only operated in straight lines. Switched it off after a few rounds.
