So let me get this straight, if you don't love Katie and find her fights fascinating, then you hate women?
I think Volante looked a bit shell shocked after a few rounds. She was strong and like you say she had a one dimensional style that had presumably served her well for all her fights to that point. She just had no answers to Taylor's speed and variety of punches other than to carry on doing the same thing as before. Given that she was an unbeaten fellow champion it suggests there's not much depth of talent in the women's game. Although Taylor is very good, perhaps that's the thing to bear in mind?
So Katie and women's boxing represents all women now? Forgive me for not knowing that. Next time I shall judge every women according to the standards set by Katie and women's boxing In all seriousness, I was being very much tongue in the cheek with the book deal. However there is a good chance a few of these women in boxing, will come out later down the line and cry about harassment and how chauvinistic an environment it is. You need to remember we were happy watching the men box, no one demanded for the inclusion of women's boxing. So when I see Katie on the undercard of a Joshua fight, it's distracts from what I intended to watch. Let them have their own show, their own channel. I don't think it's fair to put them alongside the men on their cards because it isn't demanded except for those who pretend they are these progressive thinking liberals with the false pretense that they love it. I don't want to see one sided mismatch involving a highly trained female beat down on a housewife Personally I don't even like seeing women get brutalized like that, and ironically it is misogynistic not to want to see women bash their faces in
The lack of depth is striking. The other champions she's beaten have just looked - at a push - mediocre too. Taylor is very good, you can see that in how she fights, but she isn't at that sort of level where I'm happy to watch her fight overmatched foes to just soak in how brilliant she is. And this is where the Taylor stuff gets conflicting. The Persoon fight might be decent, but that's ultimately it. It might be another blowout and I just do not hold interest in that. All the while, this exposure will get more women into the sport and the talent pool will - gradually - improve. It'll never compere with the men's sport obviously but it doesn't have to completely be on the same level for it to be a little more compelling. I find myself in that no man's land of wanting the woman's side of the sport to grow organically but also not really wanting to help...
I agree. On the one hand you can't hold the lack of decent competition against Katie, she's more than doing her part. On the other, as fans you want to see a better challenge than anyone has so far managed to put up. Presuming she beats Persoon then there's only the prospect of maybe taking on one of the few class acts in the sport, perhaps at catchweight? One problem is that the women's pro circuit has rapidly taken on the dysfunctional structure of the men's game. Four belts is ridiculous enough in the majority of the men's divisions but in the women's at present it's nigh on indefensible. So Katie's journey to undisputed is devalued by the paucity of opponents. Hopefully these are the difficult early stages of the women's sport and all those amateurs in gyms training for Olympic glory will begin to raises the standards across the board.
I hear ya but It is not KTs fault that she is miles above the competition...A bit like MAyweather in his pomp except more exciting...
I don't think a single person is blaming her. All she can do realistically is keep going up in weight
Have you ever actually wrote a sensible post on this forum? You make little troll remarks here and there, that's about it. You're a creep man.
