Is she close to her father? Has he ever trained her? I know he's dodgy with MTK and getting shot etc, has she deliberately distanced herself from him?
He trained her in the amateurs. They fell out for a while a few years back after he split with her mum but have since made up.
I'm sick of Katie Taylor being forced down our throats as some kind of mega star. She's not. She has very little social media following compared to other boxers who are genuine mega stars. Khan, AJ, Fury, Gervonta, Floyd and many more. Can't wait till she fcks off to be honest. And every other woman boxer. Sick of watching their poxy pillow fights. Who's with me? Come on. You're all thinning what I'm thinking.
The gate for Taylor Cameron will be more than Haney Lomachenko and almost all UK cards this year. 5000 people wanted to attend the weigh-in but they only allowed 500 in. They will likely sell out Croke Park in September if they manage to stage an event there. She is one of the few genuine female stars.
lol She wasn't even an instant sell out at the 3Arean which holds about 8000 people and there were still tickets left a couple of weeks ago.
How does anything you say invalidate the comments you quoted? As of 11 April - over a month before the event - 35 tickets were left unsold that were €750+ according to the Irish Times. That's pretty good going, wouldn't you say? This content is protected By comparison, check out the ticket availability for Lopez vs Josh Taylor, that's less than a month away. A genuinely big fight that's taking place at the smaller MSG Arena, about 5000 capacity: This content is protected Katie's a star in Ireland, like it or not.
So she could sell out 100k stadiums and do massive PPV numbers but she doesn't do this and instead fights at an arena that hold 8K because..........reasons. The only time Katie Taylor has headlined a show in the UK was the York Hall and there were about 500 people left in the crowd by the time she came on. Then her here fight at Maddison Square Garden 'sold out' because tickets were either given away or sold for $20. Katie Taylor is obviously more popular in Ireland than she is in the UK but she is still not a big superstar, that is just a fact. Very, very few boxers are and that includes Josh Taylor who you mentioned, which is why he is also fighting at a small arena.
Forced lol? How many British or Irish fighters have sold out MSG? 99% of male boxers in the UK would love to be as popular as Katie Taylor.
Katie really has transcended women's boxing and really paved the way in terms of getting it to the level of publicity it's currently at. However...... Chantelle is a really good fighter in her own right and with Katie having had a few wars now (Persoon, Serrano), I think that combined with going up in weight + being in with a strong, hungry and top fighter that she may not have enough this time around. That said though, Taylor is often sharp early and takes a lead then ends up holding her feet and having a bit of a war. I think Chantelle has to try and get her to buy into the noise of the crowd and occasion and go to war early on, not allowing Katie to build a lead early on the scorecards. Let's be honest though, it's Katie's homecoming in Dublin........ if there's any argument at all for it to be close on the cards she's getting the nod, Chantelle will need a KO to get a draw no doubt.
It is good to see big time boxing back in Ireland after the Regency Hotel weigh-in shocker a few years ago. Frankie Warden twitched like he has never twitched before and showed excellent footwork while running for cover.
