Women can't fight men of equal weight of course. I've sparred women and there pucnhes feel like a child's. What I will say is women learn a lot quicker than men and have better balance. I think its down to having less explosive power giving then time to actually try and learn techniques other than just using power alone like men tend to try to. If im coaching women they pick things up far quicker. Especially foot movement. So I can imagine at elite level women will have all the great attributes men can have
Watched it out of a curiosity and love of the sport. Whilst there's no denying her talent or dedication, to me it has a touch of the victorian freakshow novelty element about it and little else. I don't like watching women fighting! They're called the fairer sex for a reason, if it's all the same to you 'new' men, I'll carry on opening the door and paying the restaurant bill.
Yep, me too! It's incredible. "I don't like watching X or Y so no-one else should be able to participate in it or watch it." Wow get over yourself.
However do the women in your life get by without you opening all the their doors for them and feeding them? Your gallantry is breath-taking.
I was never keen on womans boxing and still arnt but from a technical viewpoint Katie was fantastic on sat night. her movement and shot selection were great, i was well impressed.. It has been mentioned earlier that although it is quite right that we have gender equality, its just a fact that some things men do better and some things woman do better and if woman were more suited to combat then they would of naturaly been the warmongers of years gone by. It is a fact though that Katie Taylor boxed beautifuly on sat night. Just like the OP states.
She was decent to watch, I would rather watch that than Paul Smith to be honest but that's another story. As has been stated, I do hope with her success no one starts the "she should try fighting the men!" and putting pressure on her to do so. Though if you're fighting and earning the money from casuals I suppose you have to accept their shitty input too
Yeah, people used to initially think that about them having the right to vote. Unfortunately, throughout history, brave people have had to stand up and break down social barriers and be viewed initially as a freakshow. Taylor will inspire girls to be become boxers and she will inspire women already competing at amateur level to make that brace step up to become professional now that there is a platform for them to compete on.
If Taylor makes women's boxing popular enough for my girlfriend to learn to drop me with a body shot, then I'm reporting you to a forum staff member. First they came for PaddyGarcia's ribs, and I did not speak up...
Put your mangina away mate! You neglected to quote the bit where I praised her talent and dedication. Bizarre times we live in when not liking women fighting makes you the caveman!
I personally don't like watching woman boxing, they can look generally quite raw and amateurish. But and its a big but Katie Taylor was class the range of shots and how fluid she was with body head combinations I would rather watch her than AJ. AJ could only wish he had the talent Katie has, only reason AJ is entertaining is because of his weight and the knockout factor.
Haha, you did but contradicted it. I'm not calling you a caveman...maybe a little old fashioned though
Women's boxing is not good and how anyone would watch it is beyond me I would never watch it or more so pay to watch it Sick
