Anybody who missed their first fight would be under the impression that it was some kind of Gatti v Ward affair. It wasn't. It may have been exciting, but in reality Katsidis gave Earl a massive hiding. I know Earl fought valiantly and even managed to drop Katsidis, but he could have easily been pulled out a lot earlier. Katsidis ruined Earl, everybody knows it and this fight won't happen. Probably...
I think it was the Romanov fight that finished Earl even though he won that he took a lot of hard head shots over the last six rounds. In his next bout against Ramirez (who was only a Superfeather) he looked half the fighter and was badly hurt on several occasions (I thought Ramirez was robbed frankly) Mate of mine met Earl at an EBF show last year, he was in a bad way, wide eyed, bit unsteady on his feet, barely coherant etc Clearly no lessons learned from the Green v Briggs fiasco, Katsidis and his management should be ashamed for having anything to do with this farce.
Katsidis doesn't deserve any **** in my opinion. He's been in so many wars and tough fights I'm not gonna begrudge him for a rematch against someone who gave him one of his most exciting fights. Like Claypole said, it was a hiding. However, if the board approve and Earl wants it, then why not? Fighters catch too much flak for one badly matched fight. It's boxing, if Earl wants to take his risks, then let him. Fight won't happen anyway though.
It's almost laughable. Katsidis, a fringe world class fighter is taking on somebody who we hope gets stopped with the first punch of the fight. What is the point? Earl has absolutely no chance. 0%.
