Im a big fan of Michael katsidies not for how he fights but who he fights and y he does it, he is a great for aussie boxing always takes on the best win or lose fights with his heart .. he is a warrior , and always leaves the fans wanting more, But could he have achieved more under a better trainer , i respect brendan smith and all he and kats have accomplised but
it seems brendan smith's boxing training skills are limited and the only reason kats is with him is coz off loyalty, if katsidies was in the hands of a roach alot earlier and his career nurtured, with his will there is no doubt he would of been a world champion, but under brendan smith it just wont happen. as brendan smith who is katsidies promoter as well , is happy being having his fighter being the oppenent for big fights kats should of jumped ship long time ago

This has been discussed so many times on here. He's been with Smith since he was a kid. He's not going anywhere else.

Was'nt there a falling out because he was with Michael Betros since he was a kid and dumped Betros to go with michaels old trainer Brendon Smith .

Smith being accussed of showing a big interest when they could smell money . I seem to remember hearing all this a few years ago .

Still , the question remains could he off got the oppurtumity to fight these fights under anyone else , theres lots of fighters out there with similar skills but no oppurtunity . Personaly i think Brendon has done a great job with Mick

How can you question his career? He has made a massive name for himself O/S and made some decent coin! Brendon would have made huge sacrifices to train Mick when he based himself O/S. He has been in some absolute barnburners. If you can't do the job better yourselves your less than credentialed to throw **** IMO!

While i believe a new top level trainer would assist katsidis further, Smith has done a terrific job with him. I would definitely keep Smith as a 2nd assistant in the corner.

Cant put **** on Brendon when he's done so much for Katsidis.

Its also important for Brendon/Mick to not be naive or ignorant when things aren't progressing to ask for assistance from an experienced trainer who has the credentials to take Mick to the next level

Smith didn't train amatuers which is why kats trained with mick betros until he turned pro.

Smith has done a bang up job and kudos to them both for getting where they are. Nobody can knock them for that. I think they could benefit from stepping into the camp of one of the bigger name trainers out there though - keep Smith right there as well, but let someone else come in and see if they can't tighten enough things up / provide a game plan that might get Kats over in one of the bigger fights he takes on.

True, but a different trainer/corner man would have got him the win over Diaz imo and Kats would be in a very different place!

Would he really though? I think he'd still be in the same position he is now. He's never going to beat Marquez.

Who's to say that while they have been overseas they havent sort the advice from some big name trainers?

Brendan Smith handles Katsidis in the corner perfectly as Katsidis gets wild from time to time and no matter how good a trainer is nobody has the trust of brendan Smith.

Huge credit to the two of them.
