I'm new to Katsidis, just checked out what was available on Youtube and read up a bit.

It seems to me, he's going into the Diaz fight too quickly. Wouldn't he be better off fighting another top 10 guy before jumping all the way to "the man"? A fan-friendly fight, to be sure, but a bad idea?

    Thoughts?

If this fight goes thru - Katsidis is going to get BEAT THE **** UP!!!!!

He has scar tissue on his face - he's like Gatti. Diaz will cut him up and they'll have to stop the fight.

If not - he'll just take a lot of punishment.

Isn't the conventional wisdom that Katsidis ruined Earl? But that's what I mean. Earl is his top scalp and it was life/death getting it.

He could really get himself damaged vs. Diaz.

Earl cut him flush when Katsidis was on all out attack mode and Katsidis recovered well enough to carry on battering earl so I don't think we can read too much into it

It's a mistake to bite off more than you can chew. This is much more than a challenge!

I never said it was bad for boxing. It'll be bad for him after Diaz carves him up though. He will never be the same. I'd rather see Juan retire Casa 1st.

Exactly. We should praise Katsidis for taking on difficult challenges. Boxers like PBF would do good to follow their example.

This is what I was thinking. All credit to Kats for taking the challenge, but if you look at their resumes they are in 2 different spots in their careers. A little more seasoning would just make it that much better of a fight.

And there's always the question of linearity - get that out of the way with the Casa/Diaz bout first.

Katsidis shouldn't be in the same ring with Diaz because he is gonna take a brutal beating in this fight but it will be a great match to watch.

Best time for Katsidis to fight Diaz is NOW. He'll get the big money before he gets exposed by a lesser fighter. With a style like Katsidis has, he won't be a contender for long.He has to make the best out of what will be a short career.

Let them eliminate each other for the Pacman sweepstakes.

Wouldnt matter if he had 10 more fights against top 20 opposition, it wouldnt change the result.

Might aswell take the gamble now, get a big purse and probably be involved in a classic fight that the fans will remember him for.

Diaz has been down too against less than stellar opposition, would anyone on here say that he will go down against Katsidis because of it? Katsidis' style opens him up to get hit, but if you can't take his pressure, you will fold (like Earl did).

As for the fight, I'd say Diaz decision, but he isn't going to run through Katsidis like he did to Fretias and J. Diaz. Fretias already quit in the past, so it's much easier the second time around. Julio Diaz looked like he didn't want to be in the ring after about the second round. Julio gave up once he saw Juan could take his punch and wasn't slowing down.

Katsidis has a fighter's mentality, he is very strong for a lightweight (he will be able to backup Diaz), has a good chin, and he can punch. I believe he will land some shots on Juan Diaz and get some in return. If Diaz can take his pressure, he will win the fight. If he can't, well than Katsidis will wear him down and probably stop him mid-late rounds.
