Bika done Australia proud ? Keep him , the guy stinks up the joint almost every time he fights recently , the reason this fight was so poor was that it matched up a very dirty fighter v a very talented fighter that can compete with equal effect down in the trenches IF HE HAS TO . it was hysterical seeing Bika cry to the ref like a ***** during the fight especially after the 11th , " If you live by the sword you gotta be prepared to die by it " he would do well to remember that .

Me too, Ward is a talent, but I just find his style incredibly boring to watch. And not to mention he is a dirty SOB. Would not surprise me one bit if those (intentional) head-butts against Kessler were a contributing factor to Mikkel's current eye injuries.

Katsidis is a legend, he comes to fight, but he has to get a new trainer if he wants to match it with the top names

Agreed, he definitely needs a new trainer. Have watched quite a few Katsidis fights and have not been impressed with his corner's advice (or lack of I should say).

Brendon Smith seems to be a nice guy, and him and Kats seem to have a great relationship, but the sheer lack of a plan B or instructions on fight night seem to be a real liability for Mick.

Out of interest what plan B could there be? If Mick couldn't beat Marquez pressuring him for the full three minutes of every round, there wasn't much else he could've done IMO. That's the difference between a top fighter and an all time great.

Everyone seems to forget also that Smith is the guy that got him/has been with him to this level. Unfortunately, maybe he's just a little behind the elite fighters of this world.

Just because Smith can't get Kats any better does not mean Smith is a bad trainer by any means. As you pointed out, he got Kats to where he is today but everyone has their limits, and Smith has his.

Just like a high school basketball coach gets a talent so far, a college basketball coach develops that talent even more and a NBA coach takes that talent to the true elite level.

There is a definite trend with fighters who have stayed with their 'high school' trainer too long in that their boxing ability, their knowledge of the actual art of boxing is limited (Pavlik and his trainer is another example and Pavlik getting outboxed by Bhop is prime example). Kats is doing well purely due to his physical talent and yes his raw physicality does suit a basic all in style but if Kats spent time with say a Freddie Roach, he would learn a few more subtleties to the game which would enable him to use his agressive style more effectively and not get hit as much.

Definitely agree with this one. Kats is really a one handed fighter - left hook, and JMM negated it after the knock down and he never looked like being rocked from it ever again.

At 30 I'm not too sure how much better he can get, and he doesn't exacly have a style where his body will hold up past the early 30s. It would be good if he could find some really good B-class fighters with good/decent marketability with a paper belt and earn a healthy paycheck ala Arturo Gatti. He is one fighter who does not deserve to leave the sport without his well-earned paychecks.

Then again guys like Rocky Juarez and John Ruiz get/got multiple cracks at the top dogs, so maybe Kats could be fourth time lucky.

Freddie is already looking after Pacquiao, Amir Khan, Chavez Jnr and a host of others. Who's to say he'd give Mick his full attention?

There's plenty of examples of fighters going pear shaped after leaving their original trainer for supposed greener pastures. Fenech, Hatton, Hamed, Tyson (with Rooney) Etc.

Quote from Markel.....I thought it could have gone either way up until the last round of the fight. He was getting out boxed but to be honest he quiet often gets out boxed...he's a puncher..
The hook in the third was a beauty to drop him.
