    Good post.

    I liken Katsidis to Mayorga in that both guys hit hard and are heavy handed, but they arent natural knock out punchers, like a Corrales.

    And like I said, you have to be guessing. You are making a call either based on him knocking down an older Casamayor than the other guys, or a knockout of Graham Earl (a fight in which he was buzzed himself)

    There is so solid evidence for him being a puncher close to Corrales. What the punches look like can be deceiving. Pavlik never looks like he's punching hard for example.

    He did stagger Joel in one of the earlier rounds of the fight.

    As far as the thread title goes, you got to remember Casamayor fought Freitas at 130 where Popo had lethal power. Even though Chico hurt Casa more than Freitas, I'd got as far as saying they had equally devastating power when they faced Joel. I think the difference was Freitas had a tendency to wing his shots, while Chico was more compact and precise with his punches. Katsidis can crack, no doubt, but I think Freitas and Chico were more devastating punchers that could end a fight with a single shot. While Katsidis is a more of a heavy handed than lights out puncher.

    I think Freitas went down hill when Oscar Suarez started training him. Suarez took him away from his seek and destroy type of fighting to a jerky type boxer.

    I couldnt understand it especially when his punching technique started to go downhill. Suarez basically took away Freitas main assett (power) with his change in style.

    Interesting most here either havent seen Freitas fight or have simply forgotten how awesome a puncher he was. Both were monstrous punchers but Freitas had mixed in much better class than Katsidis.

    Suarez was an idiot. He ****ed up Naz and did the same with Freitas. Before, Freitas was an animal. When Oscar turned up he tried to turn him into a box puncher. It was awful to watch.

    Do you remember the Barrios fight?

    I thought it was awful to watch, the final knockout was quality though.

    When he was at 130lbs he was devastating, his dismantleing of Carlos Rios was awesome.

    And i also got to watch him on the undercard of Calzaghe v Woodhall, against a former Naz victim Daniel Alicia.

    Lovely knockout.

    Awesome KO. Awesome. That was lights out discombobulating power. Barrios body literally froze and he fell like a tree that had just been hacked.

    Yeah man, it's a shame. Popo was really something to watch prior to working with Suarez. Here's a pretty nice highlight video someone put together leading up to the Diaz fight. Though the footage is somewhat limited, and doesn't include Popo's most devastating knockout (Anatoly Alexandrov :yikes ).

    I totally agree. Suarez ****ed Freitas badly. Freitas was a beast before Suarez. Just look his KO wins over Alexandrov, Alicea and Juaregui.
    I think Freitas was the harder puncher at 130 and Corrales at 135.
