    Anyone else have escobedo winning?

Not the fight I watched. Katsidis clearly won a good fight. What is happening with boxing judges these days...

No. Katsidis killed him really, it was his fight all the way. Escobedo was tough though.

I though Katsidis was just too strong and relentless.

Katsidis pretty much won every round with relentless pressure, odd scoring.

Escobedo is a little green at this level of competition, but i like what I'm seeing with the kid. Kats had won it convincingly--a UD would have been a fitting verdict.

escobedo won a maximum of four rounds and that is being somewhat generous. that judge needs castrating.

I didn't see this thread and made one of my wn on it. I had Katsidis winning 116-112. I remember thinking Katsidis could win as much as 118-110 or as little as 115-113 because some of the rounds were close. I don't remember eight rounds being close enough to give to Escobedo.

Note: This is what that "other guy" might have been thinking. However, I think that Katsidis won with his pressure fighting.

    1. Katsidis' face was all sorts of messed up by the beginning of the 12th round. Usually that kind of damage can sway a judge into thinking the other guy is effective (he was, but not to the point that I thought he was winning the entire fight).

    2. Escobedo is a Golden Boy fighter. Not saying DLH went and lined some dude's pocket, but you could say there might be favoritism towards that fighter.

    3. Escobedo was landing, landing loads on top of loads of punches. The only problem was, in the midst of all this landing, Katsidis was pushing and pressuring the hell out of Escobedo, leaving Escobedo to retreat. Usually the retreating fighter isn't seen as the 'winning' fighter, unless he is near untouchable (see Mayweather).

    4. It was said (during the broadcast) that the winner of the Katsidis/Escobedo fight gets to fight Marquez for his title. There could be a slant behind this somehow, but I didn't drink enough coffee this morning to totally deduce it. (In my eyes) The more exciting fight is w/ Katsidis and Marquez.

However, the only controversy was that one judge scored the fight in favor of Escobedo. It could have been argued to be closer, but not winning. Katsidis had that fight.

Exactly I thought five rounds were close. I gave eight to Katsidis. I thought the highest score could be 118-110 for Katsidis and the lowest could've been 115-113.
