Katsidis/PAC more realistic if PAC/FLOYD falls through?

Katsidis still hopeful of Pacquiao fight

AUSSIE slugger Michael Katsidis is still waiting to hear whether WBO lightweight super champion Juan Manuel Marquez will make a mandatory defence against him in the new year but he hasn’t lost sight of a dream bout with Manny Pacquiao.

The WBO interim lightweight boxing world champion says he is close to fulfilling his dream of bringing a big fight to Australia.

The Sydney 2000 Olympian, who recently became a father for the first time, is still waiting to find out whether Marquez would fulfill that obligation or decide not to fight Katsidis, in which case he would be stripped of his title and the Australian would be recognised as the full champion.

"Marquez is mandatory at the moment, I'm always interested to fight the best," Katsidis said.

"It's always been a dream of mine to bring the best in the world to Australia and I think we're getting very close to that."

For years Katsidis has wanted to challenge pound-for-pound king Pacquiao.

The Australian brawler is willing to come over and fight the Filipino boxing icon in front of his adoring countrymen.

His backers are willing to support and even bankroll his challenge of Pacquiao.

“It will be great for Manny to fight in front of his countrymen and it is only me who is willing to accept the task of being his challenger. The Mayweathers, Marquez and Mosleys, they won’t come here. They’re all focused in the United States," added Katsidis.

The Australian is coming off an eight round technical knockout win over former world champion Jesus Chavez and a splitv decision over US Olympian Vicente Escobedo.

interesting he says he is close to bringing a big fight to Australia.the general public IMO would love Kats fights.imagine Green/Hopkins,Katsidis/big name opponent
boxing could become more mainstream in Australia.and of Choc continuing to become a pioneer.

No chance of this happening ever. As much as I love Kats, he offers absolutely nothing for Manny. Katsidis should be targeting someone a lot more realistic. If you were dominated by Juan Diaz, then Pacman shouldnt even be in the conversation. I'd love to see himself with Valero. That would be an awesome fight.

I Like Katsidis, but I can't believe nobody here is dismissing this fight as an absolute mismatch.Pac would stop Katsidis as quick as he disposed of Hatton...
Katsidis is nowhere near the level of Pacquiao ffs..

Zero chance of that fight happening.

I would hope no Australian fan would want to see it either, Manny would brutalise Kats within the first round.

Did u watch that fight? Hatton did not throw a punch so how can you consider that jumping on him......ALso all the stuff said NO CHANCE, He would get smack....Pacman early KO WIN and a easy fight.......Sounds like i heard this a few months ago for what fight....Green v Jones Jr.

A puncher like Kat can win with 1 shot now does that mean he would beat Pacman HELL NO but a puncher always has a chance and Kats best chance would be think of it as a 3 round fight and unleash all hell from round 1.

Don't believe me......Just watch and see. Can make any excuse and say how much of a better fighter he is now but Chins don't get stronger with age.

bet kats team dont ask for manny to be drugs tested......:yep

which actually may leave the door ajar for a 'kat' fight, considering mannys recent 'problems' with mayweather...

I think most wld agree that the pac man who fought hussy is not the same one in 2008/2009

I personally wld hope Kats fights Hatton instead.
