    Good post DSS.

Kats was his continually relentless self. But when he got a sniff he found another gear.

To his credit Kats took stock again, without letting Mitchell off the hook, and when the later opportunity arose he certainly capatalised.

    Bravo Kats.

How tuff is katsidis ring entrence! katsidis far to strong for mitchell..could see that from the very start..kevin mitchell should drop down in weight..katsidis should get a big money fight next.

Great thread DSS. Awesome effort from one of Oz's finest world class fighters, the other being Vic. To go over to your undefeated opponents backyard & take him out like that is true balls of steel. Top effort Kats, we are right behind you son.

I've never been a fan of referee Dave Parris but his stoppage in this was absolutely spot on.
Saved young Kevin from what could have been the opposite to see him bouncing around a couple of minutes later.

Mitchell is a great sportsman too. Showed genuine affection for Mick straight after.:happy

Katsidis is a monster in the lightweight division, I can see genuine improvement in his defence

great stoppage from the ref.. it was a pretty brutal ko but that had the potential to be one of those reeeaaally bad knockouts..

Great interview with Buncey and Katsidis prior to the Mitchell fight.

    He epitomises old school.

Embodies the old style Aussie fighting spirit this fella. Like Carrothers many years ago, he seems to have no fear for the big challenge or the battle that follows.

That's how boxing used to be before fighters had their own lawyers and started carrying brief cases instead of sports bags.

kat fought a dumb fight. it went 2 rounds longer than nessesary.

kats only tactic to avoid ol mates pumping jab was to take it on the forehead, try and slip it, or run and get a rest from it. it wasnt till ol mates jab ran out of steam that kat caught up to him......

now...not one single one of you commented on kats total lack of body punching. none of you. not one!!!

had the kat thrown right rips under ol mates jab, and followed in with more rips, left and right, that jab would have dried up before the end of the round, letting kat get closer.

what kat did was headhunt. pure and simple. in doing so he ate more leather than he neeeded to, and proved there are some worrying gaps in his corners arsenel. he should have been told.....certainly after the first, but he should have been schooled that way anyway.

he toughed it out. but a better skilled fighter will (and have already), make kat pay for his lack of body 'attention'.

but he won, and good luck to him. lets hope he learns from that win, and realises that there is a body to punch as well as a head, and if you are a puncher, you can ko a bloke just as easy to the body, and its easier to hit.

    sallys 2c.
