You could see Mitchell's eyes. He was senseless. He would have been unable to defend against the next big punch. Personally I'm glad that he didn't have to take a full power punch when he was out of his senses and unable to defend himself - just to satisfy some ******s on a boxing forum.
I hate to laugh at it but ...British commentators at the end "Kevin Mitchell's dream has died." Then "Kevin Mitchell's dream...turned into a nightmare."
you never fail to live up to your name as the most moronic poster on the forum... have you ever actually seen a fight before?
The stoppage was good. Kevin had turned side on from the last left hook and was defenceless. If he had any defencive senses at that time he would have taken a knee. Kevin said afterwards that he did think the stoppage was a little quick but watching it on the screen he see's how out of it he was
Good win for Katsidis. This Mitchell guys doesn't look particularly strong or sturdy so I'm not surprised Katsidis was able to whipe him out so realy. I also like his new, relentless pressure style. Same style he used against Escobedo. It suits him.
That WAS NOT a fast stoppage...it was the right thing. If it went on longer, you guys then would be on screaming that KM took to many punches.
I echo the general opinion regarding the first round. Was absolutely shocked to hear dam' commentators giving that round to Mitchell. But thinking about it, with the judging in England, which is almost as bad as in Germany, Mitchell would definitely have won that round, just by throwing a weak jab. Second round was Mitchell's, but in both these rounds you could see that Katsidis was... studying Mitchell. He wasn't really bringing up the pressure. He did that in the third, after he caught mitch with a left hook. And began to pummell Mitchell... Mitchell, to his credit recovered, but did the unwise thing to do a rope-a-dope on Katsidis. And paid the price. The stoppage was spot on. Sure, Mitchell wasn't down on the canvas, but Mitchell was out of it completely. In fact, there were two occassions when Mitchell got startled, first time when hit with that first left hook. The fight could have been stopped then, but the ref split the two. Second time... by the crisp left hook with his back against the ropes. Mitchell can come with all the excuses in the world, truth is, he can't handly the pressure of a top class pressure fighter.
the guy was in disneyland ffs. no need to give him permanent brain damage. he was beat by the better fighter.
That had to be stopped. Mitchell could have taken a knee himself and then maybe it could have continued but with Mitchell out on his feet the ref has no choice.
I watched it live in the stadium. I gave Katsidis the first based on his late aggression in the round, Mitchell got the second clearly but wasn't doing any damage and looked uncomfortable with Katsidis' constant switches in tactics. The stoppage was absolutely right in the third. All snap had gone from Kevin's punches, his legs were like blocks of wood, and everything Kats landed sent him stumbling. If the ropes hadn't been there, he'd have gone down. Even after the stoppage, he looked unsteady. he admitted he'd gotten Michael wrong, don't see much else to add to it.
I'm happy Katsidis won. Nothing against Mitchell, though I never paid Warren's hype any attention, but Katsidis is an easy fighter to root for.
