Then the fight should have gone to its natural conclusion. Refs stop fights too quickly these days, and it's amazing how many boxing fans cheer them on. Back in the old days, boxing fans weren't so squeamish.
Mitchell was getting hurt and tagged a lot before the stoppage. He gets hit by a left when against the ropes that knocks him senseless then takes a few more when he's got no defence. A ref will ALWAYS stop it in that situation. More fighters should be smart and take a knee under pressure. Ideally before your eyes roll back in your head.
Yep. And physically it looked like man v boy as well. Katsisdis looked strong and rugged, whereas Kevin's physique looked frail in comparison. Although Kevin is a better boxer, Katsisdis was able to walk through him
I think If Mitchell hadn't been against the ropes and been able to fall, the ref would have let him get up and continue. Being that he was against the ropes and couldn't fall, the ref had to make a choice to stop the punches. No point in seeing a Mercer-Morrison type thing where a guy is completely unconscious but not down and the ref is too stupid and slow to step in and stop it.
Thanks for the video! The stoppage was correct - he was already stun earlier and KM had no power to his punches. His legs were gone.
LOl this board amazes me sometimes. The Power shots Katsidis hit Mitchell with looked pretty clean to me. I didnt see much luck about it. Perfect Left Hook.
I missed it live, and after a few days of searching for it online only found it yesterday. Hopefully you can sleep soundly now, without fear of wetting the bed.
