my mate reckons galaxy was possibly the most underrated fighter of all time...i confess i've never seen him...anyone here got any comment-was he that great?
he was a beast. most underrated fighter of all time is a highly subjective title, but the man had KO power in both hands, a lot of good defenses under the belt, and is probably the #1 super fly of all time...
looking at his stats on boxrec,i see he never fought outside of asia.wonder why he never ventured out to europe or the states, where the greater exposure would have cemented his wider appeal, had he maintained his extraordinary winning(generally by ko)record?
There are some videos on youtube if i'm not mistaken. He spent some time in the late 80's - early 90's on the p4p list.
i'll check it out...what became of khaosi...is he just another washed up,forgotten pug,or do the thais look after their warriors of yesteryear?
According to Wikipedia he still makes TV appearances in Thailand on occasion... He did the Manny Pacquiao thing and released a single after his boxing career.. There isn't much more about him other than the fact that his twin brother also won a world title.. "Galaxy is widely considered to be one of the greatest boxing champions of all time. "
And fight who? America or Europe generally doesn't care about the lower weight guys. They wouldn't have sold **** in America or Europe. He made the max amount of money he could fighting in Thailand.
Many would argue he is one of the most overrated fighters of alltime...at least by the Ring and some other journalists. Its a shame those publications/people succumbed to the lobbying by Galaxy's backers because I think there was a backlash against him by a lot people who just couldnt understand why he was getting such big raps over guys who were doing pretty much the same thing at the same time in the same division. I think it hurts his legacy in some circles, personally I find myself trying to scrutinize and talk down his achievments rather than appreciate them because he was way overhyped by especially the Ring. He was an absolute beast, top 3 at the weight alltime and arguably the hardest puncher 115 has ever seen..I think only Moon can challenge him for his distinction. The average punter wouldnt know much about him and in that sense he is somewhat overlooked, but so are a hell of a lot of fighters from those lighter weights and who fought around that time.
Quality fighter ! he was fighting in front of huge audiences back in thailand so he didnt need to come over , his brother was a canny fighter to
He is one of the most overrated. He was a titleholder who never fought the best boxers in his division.
Punched like a mule for his weight. I remember seeing one KO that didn't look like much but the guy went into the canvas face first and didn't know what hit him. You would prob get a good answer if you posted in the classic forum.
Moon, Roman, Konadu, Rojas...several more. Watanabe actually vacated his belt to fight a more established thai instead of Galaxy before Khaosai was champ. Could have really moved up and faced some big names there aswell. Including the bloke who knocked out his brother. He didnt really avoid them so much...its just that those guys all found a way to fight each other whilst Galaxy was content to rack up defences at home against generally mediocre guys. Ive got absolutely nothing against Galaxy's career choice, its just there is a section of the boxing media who unfairly discriminate against those other guys mentioned and seem to overlook the fact he really didnt face the best fighters available. I cant see why he is ranked so highly and they are not. He was a great little fighter still...Id pick him over most of those guys more often than not but the reality is he never fought them, the reasons are irrelevant, he just didnt.
