They're showing that fight, cause it was the first "unification" of sorts between two Japanese fighters.
Tatsuyoshi was the interim WBC champ, Yakushiji the regular one.

Also, Tatsuyoshi was the one who held the record for Japanese fighters of winning a world title in the fewest bouts, before Ioka came along.

Tatsuyoshi bloodied and reduced to leaping left hooks by the 8th. Yakushiji jab began taking over.

They had WBC open scoring even back then.

    97-94
    96-94
    98-92

    for Yakushiji through ten.

I guess Tatsuyoshi stormed back and won the championship rounds, but it wasn't enough.

More than half an hour into the broadcast, no live boxing.

When they're done with this segment, I say **** Mizaki vs. Landero - bring on the main event. Else I have little chance of seeing it without being extremely late to work. :!:

    This is an encouraging sign!

The headliners are limbering up and working the mitts backstage!

Oh yeah, man, Tatsuyoshi wanted it. Pure heart.

    BUDI BUDI BUDI!!

Both eyes basically swollen shut, leaking plasma. He was going after Yakushiji, who just wanted to stay behind that stick and take 'er easy until the final bell.

Yeah, I got up extra early, since I had no idea when this was going to start... and have been waiting for hours now. To think I could have slept way longer...

But: If this fight right now is anything to go by for Japanese unifications we're in for a major brawl...:p

So they're showing the Classic bout in lieu of the co-feature?

No doubt whatsoever Tatsuyoshi won the 12th. Damn close to 10-8, really. Dug deep and whipped that ass. What a brave effort!
