Keel Brook vs Paul Williams @147/154?

I'd argue that Spence is a much more educated pressure fighter than Williams. Margarito beating Brook (which, I agree, he would) doesn't guarantee Williams beats Brook. Margarito and Williams share great workrate, but they apply it differently, with differing punch varieties and degrees of ferocity (incidentally, theirs was a close fight in which Margarito came on strong late after a slow start). I don't believe Kell to be the apotheosis of mental strength, but I don't agree that he's a midget – he abided pressure prior to his 160lb adventure, and even against Spence he offered a courageous rally in the 10th before succumbing to the inner voice in the 11th (I've no doubt he was genuinely fearful of having his other eye ruined).

Moreover, I don't see what anyone's issue is with some diversity of thought. When you start a fantasy fight thread in Classic, is it your aim to start an exchange of views and ideas or to have everybody co-sign you? There's no point in a discussion thread which calls for monolithic thought among the participants. It wouldn't exactly be a massive turn up for the books for Williams to lose to a quality welterweight. Let's discuss the matchup with some basic respect for each others' input.

 

well said. It can be hard to be objective and not to troll a tiny bit sometimes but people take these threads too serious sometimes

 

It's an irony that so many guys on forums about pro boxing lack the temperament most generally suited to the sport.

Remember your first fight in a controlled environment? I can't lie, I treated it like when some other kid says something against your mother on the street and you go straight in to kill the guy out of reflex. And I performed like dogcrap as a result (won, but not because I did anything well).

STFU please... Paul Williams has Antonio Margarito ONLY on his resume at 147. Lets not act like it's chalk full of top contenders. Beside, do you know how to pick a winner on their in-ring work? Or do you just pref er to go to boxrec and make a choice on that?
