This would be an incredible fight...you could put this one on the undercard of Ruiz-Terrell, really open the show with a bang. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cORMVijZh1k[/ame] In the blue corner, the indelible Keene Simmons. Simmons has perfected his unnerving swarming style where he dillagently swarms inside and doesn't throw any punches. Breathing heavily, he paws with both hands, possibly making a strange noise until the referee seperates him from his man. This style might be affetive against Bill Tate, who only throws jabs. Given that Simmons won't allow room for this punch whilst he harmlessly swarm on the inside means that he might be able to wear the weak Tate down with pawing. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxp1StsI_DI[/ame] In the other blue corner, the ineradicable Big Bill Tate. At nearly 6'7 and 240lbs, Tate is a frightening apperition. Unfortunately, he was at no time taught to box, as the above shows. Against the much smaller Kid Norfolk, he finds it difficult to control range, imposes himself physically or land any punches outside of a very bad jab. Can he catch Simmons once a round with this jab, probably enough to give him a decision? You decide.
Simmons swarms all over Tate who immediately clinches when Simmons gets close. No punches are thrown. A draw decision is rendered by the judges at the end of 10 rounds.
Another potential match-up on the card, the skilled Alberto Lovell fighting the durable Mario Cawley. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZNUrHpnI34[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFS_4SLMfac[/ame]
@Cawley holy ****. That was really fun. The commentators and Rahman himself were also unintentionally funny.
It's sad that stuff like that can be sanctioned and televised without much repercussions. I guess no one really expects any better from pro boxing these days.
Didn't anyone tell Norfolk that a lightheavy like him has no chance at all against an awesome way-ahead-of-his-time "modern" giant super-duper-heavyweight like the 6' 7" 240 lb Tate.
I think he looks much more relaxed, I'd say that was the biggest difference. Then again, he's sparring. Dempsey was hard on his sparring partners, as hard as anyone I ever heard of, but there's no pressure involved.
