i have a serious problem with my hands..

    1. when i'm moving around the ring bobbing and weaving i move my hands in the rhythm that my body moves in.
    2. when i throw my jab i bring the hand back to my neck, then up to my face again
    3. my right hand is next to my left, rather than back by my ear
    4. i get a nasty pain in my left shoulder after 3 rounds or so, it makes it very painful to keep my left arm straight. it keeps collapsing towards the centre of my chest/right arm for support.
    5. i feel very uncomfortable and off balance when my hands are up

i know how important this is and i want to fight with my hands up high. ive been shadow boxing with weights for 2 months now, its helped alot but im still nowhere near the guard i need to be in. anyone have some tips?

    thanks

You have to start slow again. Force it into a habit. Be more dedicated and self-disciplined in what you're working on.

For me, I made it into a habit. So now, I feel uncomfortable and sloppy when my hands are slightly down or when my chin is not down.

The more discipline and dedication you show, the faster your bad habits go away.

For the pain you get after a couple rounds. Maybe your muscles are too tense? You don't want to keep your arms, hands and shoulders hard and tightly squeezed. If they are you will wear yourself out.

Your arms should be relaxed, hands loose (not a tight fist until your punch is on the way) and firmly pressed to your chin/face/headgear so it won't get moved out of the way with the slightest brush but not pressed too tight that you're getting really tired just from holding your hands up.

Everything else is just practice. Shadow box in front of the mirror so you can watch yourself and make corrections when you see you drop your hands after punching.
