Establishing and keeping a certain fighting range can determine the outcome of a fight for a fighter and largely is determined by the height and range of the fighter and their oponent. Keeping range can be done in a number of ways including footwork, punches, clinches, and feints.

Which fighters were the best at keeping the fight at their preferred range? Which fighters weren't so good at it? Which fighters were the most versatile regarding range?

Benny Leonard looks like a master at keeping range...Monzon also excelled at it. It appears with these two that it was ingrained into their styles and how they approached each and every single fight.

The good: JMM, Charley Burley, Jersey Joe Walcott, later Wladimir Klitschko, Sugar Ray Leonard, Pernell Whitaker, Willie Pep, RJJ, Lennox Lewis.

The bad: Terry Norris, Earnie Shavers, Julius Long (85 inch plus reach and he wastes every last one!), EARLY Wladimir Klitschko, Jess Willard.

    The ugly: Paul Williams-
