I was reading an article on the importance of keeping your CofG (center of gravity) low for balance, leverage and power. I always knew the importance of keeping your knees bent. The article states that usually when fighters think about bending their knees, their balance actually gets thrown off a tad since your ass usually goes out and you head will lean over to compensate.

The article states that you should think of "sink not squat" when lowering your CofG. Basically your hips just sink a few inches staight down. I have found that this little simple phase make a HUGE difference. This is a good example of how sharing terms can be used to some effect even without video or shown in person.

Has anyone heard of this phase? Maybe I just missed it, but my coach never explained it that way. I always squatted and my balance was off. Now I know why.

    Thoughts?

When sitting, Balance is lost because of bad muscle alinement. Brought on by eyesight, to overcome it, everything needs a good stretch
