“Joe pointed to the timekeeper and said ‘Time in'..“At that point, the fight is back on and they’re free to punch each other. Joe had them separated, but Victor went to hug him four separate times. But the referee said ‘Time in’ and Floyd Mayweather threw a perfectly legal punch. I have no idea why Victor kept trying to hug him or embrace him. I guess he was feeling guilty because of the head butt, but hey, you’re in a fight. Fight and then feel guilty later.”

WHEN did he say time in?...When he's looking away from the fighters and the first shot has landed?...

Jesus people, CORTEZ WAS JUST MAKING SURE THE TIME KEEPER ACTUALLY DID START THE CLOCK LIKE HE INSTRUCTED.

    It's ****ing obvious.

He called time in, motioned with his arms. then he looked away at the timekeeper. But in the video its clear the fight had resumed.

Time out/time in is NOTcalled on every break. You are free to hit when the ref declares the break OVER. According to your logic you can hit as the ref separates you. Sorry, not how it is.

His job is to "officiate the fight" which OBVIOUSLY means "watching the fighters". Something he completely FAILED to do.

Think it's called after time out is called due to a foul/deduction as opposed to "on every break".

At that point, it would have been a professional courtesy(which Mayweather didn't have to extend), for Mayweather to wait till Ortiz was ready. However, why would you extend a professional courtesy to a guy who's been fouling you and busted your mouth with an intentionl headbutt?

If Cortez had said the fight was back on, why was he not watching what either fighter was doing?

I think Kizer is protecting the money draw in Vegas.

Point is he did not tell the fighters they could engage. That is his job after he breaks the action. It is 'break' until he tells them otherwise. The only reason I think this stands is I think Victor was thrilled to get $2.5 mill and I'll bet he has a rematch clause from the sounds of it. So he makes another $2.5 mill to let the verdict stand.

Floyd retaliated with an obvious cheap shot, waited for Cortez to warn/deduct a point. When that didn't happen he knew Cortez wouldn't do **** and clocked Ortiz. This one is just way too obvious. Cortez is one of the worst ref's in the sport. Firm? Fair? Try incompetent.

Don't fighters listen to the BASIC instructions of boxing anymore???

"Protect yourself at ALL times." - seems I hear that EVERY fight! :rofl

They ask what was Cortez looking at. What was Ortiz looking at?
