I just really liked how Thurman set the tempo for the entire fight by how he came out in that first round. Danny just looked completely shell shocked with what he was receiving from Thurman. Danny never seen nothin like that in his entire career. He never been peppered like that before.
I agree, but what I think we should give Thurman credit for is the maturity he showed tonight, he came out fast, agreesive with serious intent, took the fight to Garcia and set the pace and when he felt he wasn't going to get to Garcia he started picking his spots and boxed his way to a decision. He wasn't wild, missing and looking out of control of himself like Garcia looked for large parts and Thurman did what Mayweather says is the most important thing.. Get that W. In the end it was a very well calculated fight from Thurman and I believe he deserves a lot of credit.
Thurman don't owe Danny nothing, he went out there and showed Danny that he was a level below for nine rounds. He knew he had won and that Danny was desperate so he stuck the knife in deeper by denying him a lucky shot. He played with him and he still won the twelfth round in my opinion. Danny got his ass beat and schooled at the same time. That's what you call the school of hard knocks. lol. Angel didn't say squat cause the OG one time was waiting on that.
Thurman won, 100%. The split decision was B.S. It was a masterclass, but that kind of stuff in the championship rounds + 10th will put off a lot of boxing fans, that much is certain. I take nothing away from Thurman tonight, he did his thing, but I would love to see less of that blatant round giving away running that he does if he ever wants to be a popular fighter.
He may not be knocking everybody out with one punch but he is still very much a power puncher and he will always be one time. It sounds good on him.
When I heard split decision I thought it was going to be DLH V Trinidad all over again. Never smart to coast in the later rounds no matter how far in front you think you are.
How many people have the iron jaw of Garcia I bet you not too many welters could take those shoots landed on him specially those uppers.
Thurman is like tommy hearns in one respect... He comes out looking to knock you out cold....and then if he feels he's not going to get it he'll step back and box you to pieces. DSG needs to look for Thurman or Broner next. He aint on this level !!
Because hes not trying to. Hes attacking and winning rounds early then coasting. Eventually its going to cost him and it almost did tonight. I was not AT ALL surprised by the split decision. I saw it coming. Im a Thurman fan but im a bit disappointed with tonights victory.
Thurman is maybe the best WW in two decades. I don't see Floyd handling that heat. Can't wait till Spence gets starched by ONE TIME. People willl be crying so bad.
