How good to other people think he is? he talks a good game and comes across well when interviewed as someone who wants to fight the best etc

However he's 25ish fights into his career now, and its yet to fight anyone in the top 10 at WW, his best win is probably Chavez, a lot of his recent opponents have been the wrong side of 30 and have several previous defeats. His next fight is rumoured to be against a 39 year old Bundu who's decent but not world class, and will be 3rd down on a Khan headline. Surely if Thurman was that good he'd be headlining his own fights by now.

I'm not saying hes a bum, he's got power and some potential, the way people talk about him as a potential FMJ opponent seems very far fetched though.

My guess is he'll lose if he fights a decent top 10 WW, Porter brook Bradley Devon etc, he's got a decent chance against khan because of his chin.

Although Thurman is still a work in progress, the top ten welterweights don't seem too anxious to get into the ring with him. I personally don't see him being ready for Mayweather before he retires but I think he would be at least competitive with any of the younger welterweights currently out there now.

He could be but I hope not. Some people said Brook was a hype job or a fraud but when he got the opportunity he showed he is a good fighter. I think Thurman could do the same but he needs good competitive fights so he can keep improving.

maybe, I can see the comparison with brook re fighting beneath themselves for too long. The writers on the main site bum Thurman and I remember an article saying brook was a paper champ and Thurman was the real no 3 at WW etc, and keep implying that everyones ducking him.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the chin.

    Thurman is the real deal.

Blame the duckers for his not having top 10 opposition on his record.

He's progressing. At this point in time I don't believe he's a competitive fight for Floyd but by next year maybe. Not a hype job in my opinion, he doesn't receive enough hype to warrant that. People who say Floyd is ducking him are just looking for the next boogeyman that Floyd is afraid of.
