If he doesn't fight for a few more years he can match Marvin Hagler's reign. Thurman better take a tuneup fight when he comes back and ease himself back into contention. Crawford and Spence are gaining experience and the speed they have might give them the edge when they fight, if Thurman waits too long or is inactive. That is one thing Tyson or other top champions did, they fought so much they would sometimes get a good fighter a little early and win just by fighting a rather green champ. But Thurman is giving these young guys chances to developed better experience and skills, and then he will be rusty also.. it is all about timing. Look how Ray Leonard fought Hagler and orchestrated that, and most of Floyd's career.

Length of reign matters not, it's girth that counts.

Indeed. This is an example of the many meaningless statistics in the era of split titles. 4 and 5 division "champs" who couldn't hold a candle to Henry Armstrong. Mayweather "breaking" Marciano's record....this list is endless, sadly.

Keith Thurman is also a disappointed. He was my favorite Welterweight for a good while, but his inactivity has been a let down.

 Means legitimately nothing, especially the way he went about "achieving" that record.

Eh, while I really like Thurman and thinks he gets WAY too much flack on here - it has to be said, reaching this kind of benchmark is easy when you defend like twice a decade or whatever. This activity level from him & Mikey is some straight-up SRL ****, and not in the flattering way they'd both probably like to be compared to him. :sisi1

SRR is the consensus #1 welterweight of all time and most have him as #1 greatest fighter of all time.

SSR's welterweight reign lasted 3 years, 7 months, 19 days

One Time's is currently at 3 years, 5 months, 21 days

So in a couple of months time Keith ''One Time'' Thurman>>>SRR
