I find this very unsettling. You don't make statements like this if the fire still burns within you as fighter. If the fire was still there Thurman wouldn't need to put pressure on himself to do something come 2022, he would have already done it in 2021 and 2020. This seems to me as if Thurman needs that extra bit of motivation to break his stupor.
Hope he gets a tune up fight because he seems out of shape and not really into boxing anymore. Its really hard to get back in fighting shape in your 30's too. How about thurman vs broner at 147?
Exactly. All jokes aside, Thurman gets wrecked by a lot of guys these days. His style of walking guys into his big punches isn’t going to work if he just got off the couch, old (in boxing years and inactivity) reflexes diminished.
He's looking for another payday and probably knows after the Pacquiao defeat he can't beat the elite of the division. I wanted Thurman vs Spence to happen some years ago but it never materialized which was a shame. Thurman didn't want to know Spence back then and said he should earn his spot to fight the champ. Well, he actually did that and you still didn't want to take much notice. It'll probably be someone like Maurice Hooker or Sergey Lipinets.
