Welterweight.

I'll put up a poll when home on my computer (not feasible on my smartphone)

I doubt there is any point, though, even though Garcia is calling for this in earnest (and might actually get his wish, to his wallet's benefit if nothing else).

Anybody picking Swift needs their head examined, much as he would after facing One Time.

Thurman hasn't even peaked yet, he and Brook both appear to have higher ceilings than everyone else at WW. If someone doesn't clip Thurman before he does peak, he's gonna be real hard for anyone at the weight. He pretty much has the ability to do it all.

I need my head examined. You act as if Thurman is been looking all that great himself, the guy just had a terrifying moment with Collazo. I can't even recall what happened with his Ghost fight, that's how unmemorable it was, and Bundu had him preparing for a track meet. This is a perfect fight to make right now, neither one can look at the other and think, "nah, he looking to good right now" You can say you favor Thurman but, to count Danny out is ridiculous.

Cherry DOES punch hard. And he DOES go to the body w/ a degree of frequency. And Thurman almost got KO'd to the body by an old ass Collazo. 70/30 in favor of Thurman.

I think Garcia definitely has a punchers chance here.

Garcia proved vs. Matthysse he can take a shot, and I've never been convinced by Thurman's punch resistance.

Thurman is good but I don't think he's elite. Everytime I watch him I can't help but think there is just something missing. I think he has somewhat of an identity crisis about what type of fighter he wants to be and while he himself would have a puncher chance against the Welterweights currently ranked above him here http://www.tbrb.org/all-rankings/#147 (Mayweather, Pacquiao, Bradley, Brook and Khan) I think they would all outbox him and Brook would stop him.

Thurman would likely whoop him. Garcia only had one real impressive win in his career (Matthysse) and that's a fight he would probably lose 4 out 5 times anyways..

Thurman is more intelligent, more athletic, has more speed, more skill, quicker/better feet, better timing, and is more versatile, etc. Maybe the only advantage Danny has is chin, but that's yet to be proven.

Thurman on points... He's a very mobile and athletic fighter, that's pretty much Garcia's kryptonite. Garcia can score a stoppage win though but I think the odds of Thurman just outboxing him are better.

Thurman by points most likely. He'd outbox Garcia. I'd like Thurman to expose Garcia for all his cherry-picking by knocking him out, so I'll choose stoppage. But regardless, I see Thurman winning this.

    What when Brook stopped him?

Or when Jones couldn't beat Brook who did all his training in Sheffield night clubs?

His soul is also in Kell's trophy cabinet. :nod

Thurman will probably win this poll easy because simply don't understand how Danny wins, people will not run with what they don't understand. He's been underestimated his entire career, we've been here before. He was a big underdog against every single one of the biggest names he's fought, and those are the fights he's won the biggest. Everyone who has tried to come at Danny, Danny has hurt them badly or KO'd them. He basically leaves opponents with only one choice, hope you can win going away. But the thing is, how boxing is scored, once you're going away, you're losing in the eyes of judging.

You have to be clearly the better technical fighter to limit what Danny lands on you and then clearly out land Danny without him timing you in between. One for one punches while going away will not beat Danny. That's where Danny shines I think, he makes his opponents either one dimensional or he beats them up. He's not very good at dealing with that one dimension he makes out of them when he gets them to run away but, the way judging is, just getting them to run is a victory. In other words, once you get your opponent running, you don't have to be as good.

I actually think thurmans style plays into danny's. If he was jogging away from collazo, you know he will jogg around vs danny but sooner of later he will stop and trade like he does in spurts and danny might as well trade with him and counter. The key is stopping thurmans jab. If he does, thurman will have to stop and fire
