I think Thurman should be focusing on fighting the best. This is a decent stay busy fight, but fighting once a year doesn't help marketability and surely not his agility.

Thurman going to clean up all the B+ fighters in the division before he fights Spence. Expect Sadam Ali or Matthysse next.

This. Thurman doesn't have PAC's accuracy or Bradley's hand speed or gas tank. If Vargas comes in shape and has the right gameplan he could beat Thurman, but Thurman is still the clear favorite.

Thurman has started fighting like a feather fisted old man instead of a prime hard hitting champion. He acts like he came from a lower division when in truth he is a 154 guy at 147.
Ever since Collazo had a senior moment and turned back the clock for 30 seconds to crack Thurman's rib cage he has been in flight inside the ring. He will try to bang for 6 and if he can't hurt Vargas he will start bouncing around like a Gummi Bear.

Pretty good fight. It's not like we can expect Spence or Crawford next.

Thurman hasn't really faced a prime composed, straight punching skilled boxer like Vargas before. I think we've seen that Thurman can be outboxed. Guerrero and an old, chinny Julio Diaz had their moments against him. When Thurman's not sure how to land he either backs away or carelessly jumps in with wide punches, and Vargas can continue boxing him when that happens. Vargas can win rounds, and if he sticks to a perfect game plan all the way it's not impossible that he pulls off the upset. Vargas has a cool head and he won't trade with Thurman like too many, like Garcia and Guerrero have done. But I still strongly favour Thurman's power, strength, activity, speed, and championship mettle to get him the win. Vargas has shown too much give in his biggest fights.

this a tough come back fight for keith but at the same time its a smart one as well. vargas got paid vs pacman and has been inactive sense. although he jst did make his return. but keith mite have a few problems early just because he maybe rusty. but he should find a way to land his shots.
