Oh for christs sake. WAKE UP.

He was never fighting Matthysse, they were just going to be on the same bill.

Do you not read and follow boxing properly?

Pretty disappointing as far as opponents go. Would have been nice if it was someone better than Diaz, who has very little chance here.

I was hoping Thurman picked up two nice wins this year and got himself into the running for a Mayweather fight this September but Diaz probably doesn't get him much closer to being considered for that September slot.

This is misleading, Zaveck was giving Berto trouble until his eye shut and he had to retire, you talk like Berto destroyed him in 5

Judah? at least Diaz has recently beat Porter and almost beat Khan, Judah hasn't thrown a meaningful punch in about a decade, sick of seeing him getting chances

I read it on twitter in the past, which can distort the meaning a bit with the 140 character limit

Zaveck has never been legitamately stopped. Not to mention he was outboxing Berto til I believe a headbutt closed his eye. Berto was dirty as hell in that fight.

Anybody who thought Matthysse was going to fight Thurman next was being a little too optimistic. It always seemed obvious to me that they were on entirely separate development tracks. Golden Boy's strategy appears to be more about developing divisional kings than anything.

What we're likely to see over the next two years is the winner of Matthysse vs. Broner becoming a reigning champion at 140, Garcia moving to 147 to fight Mayweather and staying there for the remainder of his career afterwards, Thurman moving to 154 and building a reign there if he can depose Lara, and Canelo making a full-time move to middleweight after challenging the winner of Cotto-Martinez.

It's unlikely any of them fight each other. That's not to say there won't be good fights to make involving these guys against the next tier of talent, like Porter, Khan, Alexander, Maidana, Paulie, the loser of Mathysse vs. Broner, Guerrero, and even Kell Brook if he breaks into the US market. But you're unlikely to see the dream match-ups everybody is talking about on the boards.
