I think Brook would have a field day with Cotto, even Cotto knows this hence he turned down the offer from HBO before Kell fought GGG.

I think Kell would have a tough time against Andrade, Charllo & Canelo. Lara fight would be winnable though.

Good post. I think he struggles with all of the top guys at 154. He ll give cotto fits. I still think cotto tracks him down in the end tho. Got to remember senchenko wobbled brook. Jones pushed him back to the ropes. And golovkin almost had him out of there in the first 30 seconds of the fight. Every punch cotto throws is pretty solid. I think going to 154 will be the biggest mistake of his career. Too many good fights at 147 to be made. If he can make it for pacman and khan surely he can make it for the rest of them.

Think eddies trying a fly move regarding spence. I think he loses the purse bids. The fight takes place in america. Brook should just fight him if spence wants it. Good chance brook will win. Even if he doesnt its not like he cant come again. Forget about khan. Tbh guy doesnt seem interested. Kells in danger of doing what khan done with mayweather for too long.

But if brooks struggling with porter who lost to thurman i cant seeing him dominating 154. Cotto put in a good performance against canelo.

Haymon is broke he ain't winning shyte against a top match room fighter
That's why he as told them all there all facing each other and it will be for average purses
Hell haymon as handed arum millions of that hedgefund and Oscar will soon be hauling his a55 through the courts
Cotto obviously ain't as confident at stopping brook as some on here
    Hence shot Kirkland

Brook is due 75% of the split and PBC are broke. There is no way Hearn loses a purse bid that he wants to win.

Look at the purses for Thurman vs Porter. Brook made more against GGG than the two combined. The money isn't there in the USA these days.

Ah wasnt aware of that lads. Assumed they d either get it over there or make eddie pay a lot to win the purse bid. If thats the case they should take it in england. Do whatever possible to keep brook at 147. That 7 pounds will be too much for brook who,s big at 147 but its not easy bridging that 7 pound gap. Theres actually not that much at 154 anyway outside cotto and canelo that are any bigger money fights than he can get at 147. Still think if we dont get khan or spence. It ll be smith at 154. Warren wont mind as long as hes getting enough pennies for it.

How do people think cotto or canelo would do against porter...?

Think cotto and brook have only ever shared one opponent. Michael jennings. Years ago now. But cotto done the far more convincing job for me. Put him over 3 times i m sure. Bust up his face as early as the second round. Basically just stayed patient till jennings slowed down with the running...as soon as he started landing it was pretty much game over. Think brook stopped him on an eye injury. But wasnt nearly as convincing. Not really much to look into...bearing in mind it was years ago etc and cotto,s now older. But could give a slight indication of what your dealing with.

Looks like one of the charlo's are vacating and moving up to 160lbs. Think that might make hearns and brooks mind up. Would like to see him in with smith/Williams over here maybe a trout and go on for the world title at 154.

I maybe dreaming here but do the ibf have a rule you can vacate move up in weight and challenge for the vacant belt...sure I heard it on here before but can someone clarify??

Cotto fought jennings 8 years ago when he was at the top of his game, brook fought him 7 years ago in his first fight outside british level (he'd just vacated the title). It's not even fair to compare the two fights, they were ages ago and both were at different levels. Cotto is at 154 because of his age not his size, there's a reason he's asked for 152 v kirkland. He can make it easy and gives him an advantage against a bigger guy. You say brook beat porter by a razon thin decision but so did thurman, some thought porter won. He's in the top 4 welterweights, so while you can claim its brooks onlygood win it is quite a good win in america too.

I think canelo would beat porter & I think porter would beat cotto right now, Cotto is finished at the top level,he will only pick easyish opponents.

The senchenko wobble was clearly a shot that landed right on his temple,it wobbled his legs but he still had control of his defence.. it can happen. We saw him take clean shots off of golovkin and he never went down so to question his chin is silly. He did get hurt initially but as he said,it kind of woke him up he got caught cold and lets be honest after all the golovkin hype you'd imagine he was waiting to feel the first shot and feel how hard he does really hit and probably just shocked him. After that he was fine but did eventually get worn down by the bigger man.

Thurman v Brook would be the 2 best welterweights.

I'd much rather see Brook fight Spence then unify with Thurman over a Khan fight, those two wins would do much more for his career long term & legacy. I just don't see Khan as that relevant these days unless he can get a good win at 147 which I can't see happening.

Making weight at 147 would be less of an issue if he didn't balloon up in between fights which really frustrates me with fighters.

What my worry is with brook is hes only really fought a few names. And each of them caused him problems of some kind. Senchenko wobbled him. I agree with what your saying about it can happen. Fair enough. Carson jones backed him up and caused him no end of trouble. We get the he hadnt trained right excuse. Porter for me won the fight. But definetely could have went either way. Fair enough about could have went either way with thurman. But thurmans not exactly fully proven himself. Golvokin took brook out in 5 hurting him in the first. Golovkin usually takes people out with an accumulation of punches anyway. Brook was riding a lot of the shots. All i m saying is if he goes in against the heavier guys they ll push him back to the ropes. He wont be able to keep them off him indefinetely as good as he is.

Cotto is still hitting like a mule...he put up a good showing against canelo. Hes slighly smaller than brook with the shorter reach but its never really stopped cotto landing before. He ll have a hard time landing on brook for a while but he will eventually. Think he took geale out in the 4th...golovkin took him out in the 3rd. Its a stupid comparison but i think cotto still hits plenty hard. Think he came in just under 154 against canelo.

I rate brook always have but think this forums in danger of overrating him massively because of his very very good skill. But theres more to boxing than skill level. Hes got a chance against most of the top guys at 147. But i reckon some beat him and he beats others as opposed to him being the best in the division. Think the heavier guys will have too much for him tho. They ll rough him up in the end.

    Even at 147...we ve got....

    Pacman
    Garcia
    Thurman
    Spence
    Khan
    Porter rematch

Off the top of my head.

I m not sure he wins all of them fights. Think their all close to 50/50,s. Even khan for me. Brooks not the big hitter people are making him out to be.

Don't think so. The WBO does hence why Canelo beating smith could of seen him be mandatory for BJS @ 160

This. I would like to see Brook not put so much on in between fights. FFS Mayweather isn't even fighting but he could make weight tomorrow.

Just watched spence v algeri and bundu fights. I say brook beats him. Spence is very very good. Always will be a dangerous fight. But hes still green. Hes a bit stiff. And got slow footwork. People falling in love with his power. Cause he is pretty heavy handed. Tough fight brook will need to take a bit of a barracking at times but defo winable for him. I say porter was a harder proposition cause hes a hard man to deal with hes relentless plus his footworks actually pretty good and pretty quick.

Or hes more difficult to outpoint anyway...spence more difficult to stay on your feet against tho...he cracks them shots in well when he gets you going.

Everyone is different. Brook is naturally heavy, he still trains while not in 'camp' id assume he just eats what he wants though. He doesn't put on all this weight because he isn't training though

The key to beating spence is keeping him at range, he kind of stands in a shoulder roll stance up close and this is a really effective stance for fighting on the inside, take that away from him and keep him at range.

Agree. I think he ll have nitemares with brooks footwork. You defo cant let him get inside too many times tho...whips them shots in.
