I don't know about you guys, but has anyone noticed how arragont and smug Kell Brook has become, since his win over Matthew Hatton..?
Should be a comfortable night for Brook. I can't remember a prospect this good coming out of Britain in a while to be honest, his level of opposition obviously means he still has a lot to prove but the ease in which he's done everything so far makes me think he really will go all the way and stay there. Our other world champions/contenders had trouble along the way in domestic fights (Hatton, Froch, Kahn, Macklin, Haye) but not Brook. looked up some Carson Jones footage and found a good sparring session with Canelo. Go to 2.29 for a lovely right uppercut-left hook from Alvarez. Had to share. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN1mxVDZeUc[/ame]
yeah I think Hearn and sky have told him to try and come across as humble etc but when he is interviewed you can see he as zero sense of humour and is very cocky which will shine through more imo
He grew up around Naz and the rest of the Ingle gym; he has the arrogance that alot of those fighters had. I don't mean this in a derogatory way, I always liked that about them, it made for much more entertaining interviews/press conferences/fights. When I see Brook in interviews I immediately think of The Prince. Howmuch of this is nuture, how much is nature?:think
Brook needs to show more fire, more venom, and more cockyness. Mr nicey nicey doesnt work in Boxing. Im all for showing respect, but when it gets to Manny v Mosley touching gloves at the start of every round? Thats just plain silly. I was happy that Jones & Brook got into a bit of verbals at the press conference. Brook needs it.
Brook was defo agitated, Just needs to keep call and break the guy down. I think he'll win on points but the stoppage is there but one thing i worry about with Kell is his ability to go through gears to force stoppage. He gets to a breaking point, works around it but doesn't force it. It's good he knows though but he's got to make it pay cos this guy looks type who will go for it if hurt. A hurt fighter is a dangerous fighter..
I like Jones' style, very good to watch, throws plenty of body punches, but as soon as he starts throwing combo's upstairs he squares himself up, needs to tuck his chin against Kell. Brooks jab will land virtually at will, Jones' head is massive, it will be competitive for a few rounds but Brook should break him down and get the stoppage or wide on points.
Im sure Brook mentioned he was going to show more intent in his next fight. I just think most of his fights have become too easy for him and he goes into cruise control. Hopefully .. as the quality of opponent gets better .. we will see a nastier side to Brook.
