Even those figures in the highest list explain why boxthing will always be a minority sport - out of sight hidden away on PPV, out of minds of the general public. The multi millionaire grubs cannot get enough but it does nothing for grass roots boxthing.
I would challenge the lowest figures as SURELY Jamie McDonnell's first World Title Fight, on PPV, on Prime Time, Promoted by Hobson, must be the lowest. Even the gogglebox mob were watching The Simpsons when that fight was on !!
Of course another huge contender that ruined Fat Mick resulting in his credit facility at McDonalds being cancelled. A classic pay per pudding event
Macklin v darren barker was supposed to be the main event but one of them pulled out. It was quite a stacked card if i remember rightly.
If I remember rightly it was part of Warrens magnificent 7 card that had a few others on, Degale was one if I remember rightly maybe vs Paul Smith
I'm slightly dubious about some of them tbh. Numbers can be and are manipulated. Where's this come from, that font of all that is true, honest and verifiable, Wikipedia? Mayweather Hatton was fukin gigantic at the time, it had been hyped for months if not years and it got 300k less than Joshua Parker? I find that hard to believe. Hatton was near enough a household name back then, beloved of football fans. Also, no Mike Tyson fights? Also, streams are more available now, so it's counterintuitive to believe more would be paying for PPV. Case in point, TV audience figures for shows on UK TV were much higher 20-30 years ago as the selection was far less in terms of channels. This list is bull**** Sky PR.
This must surely exclude ITV box office numbers? I can’t believe Groves v Smith last year did well and would surely be bottom 5. Loads of people had issues buying that fight on the night as well
I don't believe them stats at all. After Froch - groves 1 loads of casuals were talking about that fight hence why the rematch was at wembley in front of 80,000
Khan vs Breidis Prescott ( LOL! his PPV debut)! Khan vs Oisin faagan Khan vs Kotelnik Khan vs Salita Khan vs Mccloskey surely they got low numbers.
