These numbers are incorrect, i have no agenda but i know for a fact that Froch Groves 1 did significantly higher than this.
I genuinely feel sorry for big Mick after that flop. He thought he was a visionary using youtube. Unfortunately he disregarded the fact his fighter was more boring than watching back to back sessions of the House of Lords. Now poor Mick can't afford his 3 times a day trips to KFC, his only luxury in life. Sad story.
Is this list even slightly credible? I’m sure I watched groves vs degale on “normal sky” Edit ..: totally wrong apparently it was PPV lol surly I didn’t pay for that haha
Yes it was PPV weirdly remember it well, Cleverly vs Brahmer was meant to be main event then Jurgen pulled out like 3 days before and cleverly won a world title against some polish fella, then degale vs groves was pushed to top of the bill. Was a good match actually
Mandela effect. Regardless, the numbers are way off. Hearn himself admitted Frampton Quigg done 200k iirc. This list claims its neck and neck with Froch Groves 2 when it isn’t even in the same ballpark. The reported buys at the time of 700k for Froch Groves 2 is way more believable. That fight was massive
Yes, the methodology used in that list is so fundamentally flawed that we’re on far safer ground relying on the words from Eddie Hearn’s mouth. Let that one sink in....
It was available on Pay TV, which was an early forerunner of what came to be PPV. It was around for a few years in the 60s - people could pay via a meter attached to the TV. It wasn't widespread (mainly London), hence the relatively low numbers for what was one of the biggest British sporting events of the era. https://www.transdiffusion.org/2006/11/23/paytv_1960s_sty Ali-Cooper II was also shown on Closed Circuit at cinemas.
Cheers for that info pal. I knew about it being shown in the cinema’s but never knew there was an early Pay TV option at all back then. You learn something every day!
