Boxers feel compelled to play the tired hype game. Sadly, I don't get the impression it's really in his nature to play it that's why it sounds a little bit silly. Worse yet there are so many fans that still buy it and it probably does really help the gate.

I am British and I want Brook to win but there is a different between wanting Brook to win and actually thinking he will win.

I will be supporting Brook in 20 hours time, I will have everything crossed for him but I have to go with what my little brain is telling me.

I believe they (Team Brook) are filling Brook with a false confidence, they are trying to convince him Golovkin is not right and there to be taken, some are spreading these rumours of Golovkin being ill, Golovkin is drained, Eddie Hearn saying he thought Golovkin looked poor at the public workout and didn't look right and now Brook is seeing things that are not there, convincing himself he sees fear in Golovkins eyes.

I wouldn't expect people around him to say anything negative to Brook but I'd rather they be concentrating on a 100% Golovkin, taking him up rather than talking him down. Concentrating on what Brook has to bring rather than hoping or talking about Golovkin maybe struggling with something.

These things might actually work for Brook mentally, they say boxing is more mental than physical but I keep hearing that phrase "everybody has a gameplan until that get hit" and that's what I think is going to happen.

That first right hand Brook feels may well change everything and will drain Brook of all confidence if he is shaken or gets dropped, we will find out soon enough but I'm not buying any of these rumours and there are no excuses for either fighter whatever the outcome.

 

It's a reactive approach, rather than a proactive one; it does seem to me that Sky / Hearn / Brook are investing much more time and energy in talking Golovkin down (mentioning ad infinitum about Golovkin looking poor at the public workout, Golovkin looking weight-drained, Golovkin showing apprehension etc) than they are in talking Brook up.

As you say, let's see where Brook's confidence is at when Golovkin walks through the first flush right rand shot Brook lands, and sets about frequently landing with big, heavy shots and methodically dismantling Brook.
