Kell says himself hes a big welterweight, however hasn't stopped many of his more recent opponents. Is there a certain lack of power there? Can that be fixed with a strength & conditioning coach? Don't get me wrong hes a top boxer, however really think he's got to start taking some of these guys out if hes going to be noticed.
He's no banger but he definitly packs a good pop..... If you're talking about his last few opponents i.e Hatton, Ndou & Jackiewicz When's the last time someone has dropped those guys?
Think it is more down to him having to cut the weight late on and feeling weaker going in to the fight as opposed to a lack of power. We've seen before Kel has decent power...maybe not one punch knock out power but he can certainly pack a punch.
Does he lack the killer instinct ?? I have noticed a few times when he has had the chance to finish fighters off but hasnt gone in for the kill. I think last night all be it his best test today was a step back for Kell . There is no way he will be put in with a champion in his next fight. I bet he gets put in against someone on a US undercard next. Still think he he is a great boxer and hope last night was a reality check for him.
Last night will be the making of him IMHO, he has a fantastic amount of skill and ability, 2 other kids I've seen with ability like him are Selkirk and Frankie.. Freaky talents
He is average welterweight size with average welterweight power. He is not someone like Margarito for a recent examples, who were huge welterweights who walked around about 170lb
put it this way, quali hurt jones pretty badly in there fight and gave jones some torrid moments, karass put jones down several time during there fight, i'd have thought brooks heavy hands would have atleast had jones on his pants once.
Gotta agree with you mate, This will be the making of him, he`ll have learned alot and had a good reality check too. He showed heart and grit and a good chin. His defensive movement is all good when at a distance and boxing, he just needs to learn to change defensive tact when under pressure up close he kept trying to dodge shot going backwards that not a cool idea against a banger. Jones is well underated not one of the top ten will bring that kinda velocity and pressure except maybe Bradley.
You can tell by his body structure he is actually a small welterweight, its obviously his lack of discipline when it comes to diet. Jones on the other hand was huge he is a big ww.
i agree 100% what i dont understand with the keyboard champions on here is why every fighter is expected to have a 100% record, never lose a round, and if he ever gets rocked he's tarnished as an absolute bum. Itsd complete crap, at the end of the day, boxing is a fist fight. It may be glammed up, it may have rules, the lads get paid good money, but its still just a fist fight. In a fist fight not one man will ever rule and be untouched, its simply impossible. Brook imo has gotten his gut check, in fact, that fight last night was probably the fight that should have been the first loss on his record, but because he toughed it out, he remains undefeated. question for you Tony. you being a fighter, did you learn more your fights with McKenbzie and Cleverely as opposed your fight to the Mcintosh fight? and if you dont mind me asking, what did you learn? there's some awful muppets on here without a real sense of reality.
Kell hurt Jones numerous times last night but seemed to hold back. Either he was trying to fight smart or trying to preserve his stamina, but if he was more aggressive earlier he could have got Jones out of there IMO.
