Kell dared to be great against GGG and even though he came up short he fought well. He is the kind of fighter that boxing needs. He thinks he can make 147 again and wants Khan, Spence...ect. He doesn't seem to want to protect his record. Instead, he want to fight the best and see where he ends up. I just like his approach to testing himself. Discuss. (kind of borrowed from MVC but not really trolling)
Career at the end of its peak...can barely make 147 best win Porter. lol. Khan Brook May 2017 that's all BOTH have left...otherwise Brook can maybe do something at 154 for a brief while. Whilst Khan has 1 or 2 fights at 147 left at best.
He only has one good win. He got lured into a money fight and may have ruined his career. While I agree we need fighters who will step up, we also needs managers to look out for the best interets of their fighters.
brook didnt "dare to be great"....he went into a payday that was going to get stopped at the first sign of trouble...that fight was a joke/farce you like his approach to testing himself? how exactly has he done that? he has one good win....in 35 fights....i mean...i can see how that might impress you seeing as how you most likely drink from the golovkin taint......he hasnt done anything yet...lets see exactly what he does.......i. mean....if he went and fought spence id give him some credit...hell most likely look to fight a braindamaged khan for big mone
Brook ca$he'd out and now he is a man without a weight class that will get served against any elite above 147lbs.(or any elite still at 147lbs)
brook ****ed up, he should of took the vargas fight. unified champ at welterweight, he would of been the man and the big fights would of been there for him anyway. instead he cashed out for a guaranteed loss and took a career threatening injury. brook has had a strange career, so much talent but not much to show for it in terms of achievements...
It's unfortunate that Brook hasn't had many top level fights, aside from Porter and GGG. When I say unfortunate, it's a lot down to Wárren in the past and now Hearn.
All fair opinions so far. I realize he took a huge payday against Golovkin but I can't understand the people running away from millions to fight GGG. I just find it refreshing that when nobody wants to fight Golovkin, no one want to fight Khan and no one wants to fight Spence, someone is willing.
Promoters and managers often protect their cash cows with the easiest possible opponents and Kell was no different. It sometimes take the fighter himself to insist on a high risk fight to take the next step. As stacked with talent as the welterweight division is, not many of the top guys want to fight each other and most all of them didn't want Brook. Brook/Golovkin wasn't all that much different than was Delahoya/Hopkins except for the fact that Oscar had already fought all the best guys at welter before trying something crazy.
you can tell me "wasnt all that much different" ....then tell me "oscar fought all the best guys at welter before doing what brook did"....thats a huge difference......brook had 1 top 10 win at WW ...thats it...one!
Any welterweight who takes on the best middleweight on the planet and fights well has my respect. Oscar did it with Hopkins and Kell Brook did it with Golovkin. You seem to have a real disdain for Brook and its your right to have that opinion but every fighter in history was unproven at one point of their career. Maybe you don't regard Golovkin highly or maybe you don't think Brook did well against him but I saw enough (even while losing) in that one fight to be convinced that Kell Brook gives any welterweight a very rough night.
Big Mistake. Even if Kell could still somehow make 147. I just dont believe he should. He should try to conquer 154 . Theres a lot of big names and good fights that can be made at that weight class. Another benefit is that he doesnt have to completely torture himself to make weight.
I would agree that 154 is a better weight class for Brook and there are a few big fights there as well.
