Depends on the Mayweather situation as to whether this happens or not.

If Mayweather want's the Khan fight, then it's happening.

If not, massive UK fight with Brook.

that makes no sense. how the hell do you remain the best by losing to someone else in your division? im not debating whether he is the best, im challenging your notion that he would remain the best even after losing.

Because all the other top guys in the division have also lost. Styles make fights. You don't have to undefeated to be the best. Even with a loss, Floyd would probably still be the best overall fighter in the division and P4P.

yes they lost, but they didnt keep their ranking after that loss, they fought their way back to that ranking. the whole ranking system is based on wins and losses and not on reputation and nuthuggers... well mostly.

this fight makes sense to both khan and brook, especially for brook at this time.

floyd's getting so much of the guaranteed purse that brook ain't going to get a fair share from what he's going to bring in.

Yes but if they have all lost someone still has to be the best and most people would still consider Floyd the best unless he lost badly. Nothing to do with reputation and nuthuggers, it's to do with ability and achievements. Even the best can lose. If Usain Bolt loses a race he is still considered the best sprinter etc.

If Floyd had an off night and lost a close SD to Maidana would you not consider him the best at 147? Who would you consider the best at 147 in that scenario?

i would consider pac the best at 147 until he also lost to maidana who would then be top dog. floyd may have been the best, but if he still was, he wouldnt lose to maidana.

Fair enough that's your opinion but how would you rate Pacquiao above Floyd when Manny was KO'd by Marquez and how come you would rate Pacquiao as the best instead of the guy who beat Floyd? See it's all subjective.

because pac has worked his way back into that position by convincingly beating a guy i would favor over maidana in bradley. pac did not look bad in his ko loss to marquez, who is an atg, he just got caught by a master counter puncher... **** happens.
floyd losing to maidana would be more of an indication of floyds decline and loss of position at the top than it is an indication of how great maidana is. i would expect pac to ko maidana in 10.
all this has nothing to do with who i like best, i just look at these fighters and fights as if i was evaluating fighting dogs with different strengths and weaknesses.

before anyone goes ape ****, i dont condone the fighting of dogs.

Again fair enough but the bit highlighted is exactly why Floyd could potentially lose (or have the decision in the 1st Maidana fight given against him) and still be considered the best, which is what I was trying to explain and I think what the other guy (theword) was saying.

there is only room for speculation in the absence of concrete proof. if maidana beats floyd, but pac beats maidana, floyd would need to beat pac to claim a bad style match up, because nobody else can beat floyd or pac.
also, if floyd cant beat maidana anymore, he is either too far past it to be #1 or his whole claim to #1 can be questioned because he chose not to fight aggressive volume punchers for years and finally faces one and cant cut the mustard. either way his position at the top would be bogus.

Well there would be no concrete proof because Floyd and Pac are probably not gonna fight each other.

So Floyd would remain #1 until Pac beats Maidana (or Floyd himself)? What if Pac doesn't fight Maidana?

You don't know that until they fight everyone and Marquez already did beat Pac.

And if Pac can't beat Marquez surely he can't be #1. If Marquez can't beat Bradley or Floyd he can't be #1. If Bradley can't beat Pac then he cant be #1 and so on.

Pretty much everyone has a style or opponent that they struggle with so anyone else's claim to #1 would also be questioned.

So would anybody else's though because they all either have losses they have not avenged or haven't proven themselves against the top fighters.

Anyway you asked a question about how Floyd could lose and still be #1 and I explained it. If you don't get it then you don't get it.
