It just sounds like a cop out. Drained fighters don't come on strong late in fights like he did. The hellacious body attack from Spence is what did him in.

he was drained if you was at the press conferences of his previous fights there was lots of people who heard (it was in the press) kell was moaning when can he eat and commenting the time is not going fast enough. Also he was ill during camp which limited his prep. the 2nd day weigh in also was killer too.

154 be better for Kell he just didn't look great all fight week we could see that hence the betting money all went on Spence as Kell was massive before he started camp and was taking ages to shed the weight.

You can disregard the examples of what happens when a boxer moves up in weight and then back down. But it happens. Said my part.

he shouldnt have fought if he was ill.

lets see, hes had, over 30 fights to learn about how to treat his body now and none of them fights previous have had this issue, how come hes "drained" in the one where he gets his head smashed up and doesnt have a weight division excuse for it?

more likely hes becoming an "excuse maker" like haye. Just accept someone better beat you!

So I guess people are totally misreading what he said. Can someone please explain in plain English how he is making an excuse or taking away credit from Spence.

The IBF check weight on the morning of the fight is what really gave kell problems as he couldn't rehydrate to the levels he wanted.

I remember him saying how hard the weight cut was pre fight.... I also remember how heavy he was before he started camp for Spence.

He didnt want to relinquish his belt though, and he wanted to answer Spences callout. Proud Champion.

Its fairly common knowledge that moving back down in weight like that is a hard thing to do and not comparable to an ordinary weight cut coming off a fight at your usual weight.

All I can tell you is traditionally, moving back down multiple weight classes is a harder than average cut, adding to it, he was obviously overweight starting the camp. Initially they were talking about how hard the cut was going to be and contimplated not taking the fight because of it, and also hinted to how bad the cut was during camp. All of this, on top of the fact that Brook was quite clearly outgrowing the division beforehand.

A fighter that was already outgrowing a division and had hard cuts, is now going to drop 13lbs from his last fight weight and on top of it he enters that camp out of shape in what would have been a hard cut even if he was in shape. For me, I accept he was drained. It is what it is.

Looked incredible at the weigh-in today. Mind-boggling that he boiled down to 147 for Spence.

True. And he was advised not to. But, irrelevant to the point of him most likely indeed being drained and why he was.

Bad decision? Yes. Should have know better? Yes.

Still... while its his own fault (coming in overweight), I applaud his desire to face Spence and defend his title. Foolish as it may have been.

That's one of the reasons I picked Spence to win.
Brook should have moved up after GGG bout.

I thought he looked drained , should have gone down to 154.

Roy Jones moved up two weight classes - the knack is to moved back down just one weight class.

    Paquioa did this best.
