I think GGG has quietly retired hasn’t he? He deserves to, he was a killer at 160 who was ducked by pretty much everyone and still has some decent names on his record. I watched him fight twice at the Garden and the Americans loved him, even over their own New York boxers who were facing him.
When fighters retire, it's usually for good reason. And they should, generally, stay retired once that decision is made.
Not many robberies have upset me as much as the first Canelo fight. The man deserved to have that win on his record.
Knocking out Khan was the perfect way to go out given the circumstances; if he continues to fight he is only asking for trouble.
He wouldn't have beaten Eubank at Middleweight.... let's remember he gave Billy Joe a run for his money and was still flying at Groves late in there 12 rounder up at Super Middle. Groves being a big super middle as well. He does well and is sharper early but the Eubank of then with the added size and relentlessness wears him down. As for Benn, yeah Brook in his heyday deals with him no question.... but if he gets in the ring with him now he'll get smashed to bits.
Those Canelo robberies still annoy me. His best years were lost in Germany and then nobody wanted to fight him in America for years.
There were no US promoters who wanted to invest and build up Golovkin. At the time, Universum Box Promotion in Germany was the best option for Golovkin.
